This study starts on the discussion about different ways of seeing. To remove the sense of sight out of the daily function to an aesthetic perception of reality, it presents contributions of authors as Merleau-Ponty (1992), Godard (2004), and Blanchot (2001). In a dialectic relation between see and create, it transforms distinct ways of seeing in an impulse to dance creation. The sight, considered through an esthetical and philosophical perspective, independently if it is a blind person or not, puts the creativity on movement. In this way, some experiments based on the relation between see and move, proposed by the author, are described along the text. The conclusion is that the way of seeing, that is to say, someone’s position in relation to the world, is what allows the creation, and not the physiological condition of sight’s sense.

This article addresses the notion of the body as a manifestation of bodily and linguistic expression. The body is analyzed from the phenomenologies of Husserl and Merleau-Ponty, and the western dance approach. By the 19th century, a new conception of recovering the “body” as a representation of the human being, the one that feels and is conscious of being in this world, arises. Also, the body is revalued from its expressiveness and communicability through movement. The dancing bodies configure a discourse about what they experience. This approach considers the dancing body as a way of perceiving and being perceived through language. This would make possible an approach to what is understood by the body within the spheres of philosophy, dance and linguistics.

Based on the analysis of four dances, this work intends to make a first approach and reflect on the following question: in what way the dances involved in the initiation ritual –and with them, their experience as a dancing body– of the Wapté- Xavante form it ontologically? The hypothesis that we maintain is that in these dances the ontological transformation that the boy has to experience is expressed. In this ontology, some capacities are developed: the ability to deal with one’s own body weight and integrate the dialectic between light and heavy into one’s own movement; the ability to repeat and, with it, to be able to move between the poles of differentiation and identity; the abilities to listen, think, observe and remember dreams; and the ability to bond emotionally to his age group. But these ontological characteristics are reached because of the experience of limits and s...

This article constitutes an attempt to document the origins of the «Huaconada,» a dance currently performed in the town of Mito (Mantaro Valley) but which, as can be inferred from archival sources, was widespread throughout the coast and central Andes of Peru during colonial times. The study of ethnohistorical sources from the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries reveals a relationship between the «huacones»and the ancestral founders of the communities where the dance was performed. This explains the repeated association of these mythical characters with elements connected to ancestor cults in the Andes, such as caves (machay) and «huancas». The analysis suggests the role of this type of ceremonies in the agricultural calendar of native indigenous populations during the colonial period. From the review of archaeological evidenc...

The objective of this work was to perform the construct validity and reliability study of the CEADED instrument that evaluates attention to diversity among dance students at the university level. An instrumental study was carried out based on the following steps: 1) determine the validity of the construct through the use of factor analysis; and 2) analyze the reliability of the instrument. The instrument was applied to a sample of 453 dance professional students from various universities in Mexico, and the factorial analysis was carried out using the method of extraction of factorization of principal axes iterated with Oblimin Direct rotation. The factorial analysis showed eight factors that explained 65.260% of the variance and the reliability was of a Cronbach's alpha of 0.957.

The loss of cultural identity in children is a problem that afflicts today. That is why this study aimed to design dance workshops to improve cultural identity in fourth grade children, which is based on theories of sociocultural learning and multiple intelligences. A descriptive-propositional design was used, under the non-experimental quantitative approach, the sample was 20 students, selected with an intentional non-probabilistic sampling, resulting in more than 50% of the respondents being at a low and very high level. low in cultural identity. Therefore, dance workshops are proposed as a pertinent solution. As a result, after applying the academic proposal, it is expected to achieve the improvement of the cultural identity of all the students participating in the workshops and that through folk dance they know and value their culture.
