This work analyzes the new visual conventions on YouTube used by content creators with the aim of determining the editing techniques and resources they employ and comparing their techniques with the conventional rules of film editing. The initial hypothesis is that YouTubers have departed from the rules of classical film editing and have created their own editing code on YouTube. To study and demonstrate this phenomenon, the testimonies and videos of various lifestyle-themed content creators on YouTube are taken as the subject of analysis. The results conclude that the new creators of digital audiovisual content have developed their own editing approaches inspired by the emerging audiovisual trends of social media.

This study addresses the experiences of young Mexican users with YouTube’s recommendation algorithms. It seeks to determine if they are subordinated to algorithmic governance or if, on the contrary, they are capable of developing some tactics to resist algorithmic power through their agency. It uses a qualitative methodology based on focus groups and shows that users are not entirely subordinated to the platforms. Their possibilities of agency vary depending on the different technological appropriations of the platform, the intuitive theories about the ways in which these operate, the ability to dodge algorithmic distortions, and the resources to evaluate the quality of the information offered. As a result, the study identifies the specific skills that constitute algorithmic literacy.

Since the implementation of the first bike paths in Bogotá, Colombia, at the beginning of the 2000s, the bicycle progressively became a mobility alternative to mass transportation. Although road corridors are often a scene of conflict and chaos, they are also places of expression that show the ways of life in the city right where displacements take place. This reflection article seeks to review some videographic expressions that narrate the city from the bicycle tours that are published on YouTube. These creations build values and representations of the city from creativity, play and playfulness; and, in turn, demonstrate narrative and affective appropriations of urban space

The purpose of this communication is to show the measurements made to the discursive analysis of the users who participated in the debate on the Catalan conflict in 2017, after the referendum held the same year and its incidents on YouTube. Currently, there is a great demand for online courses on platforms such as Coursera, Domestika, among others. This growth has increased since the Covid-19 pandemic. Therefore, this study analyzes the perceptions of young university students between 20 and 30 years of age from the Faculty of Communications of a private university in Lima, Peru, to understand what the elements of purchase decision in the advertising communication of the Domestika e-learning platform through pre-roll content on YouTube are. The approach of the study is qualitative with a case study design. Sixteen semi-structured interviews were conducted with university students who use the YouTube platform as an educational, entertainment, etc. tool. YouTube is a space for the dissemination of languages. In this article, we study the discourses on the teaching and learning of Aymara on the social network called YouTube, in videos created by institutions, independent groups and users in general in Bolivia. For this purpose, a discursive analysis of the comments made by cybernauts or followers is carried out. The research concludes that this is a case of linguistic activism in social networks, which is valued by their followers, while transmitting criticisms based on linguistic ideologies about language and its use.

The flow of information arises day by day through the Internet in a continuous way thanks to the constant interactions between users, these interactions present feelings that can be positive or negative. This helps social media content creators a lot to understand how useful what they do is for their followers, and if these are a large number, an analysis done by a single person is not enough. For this, it is necessary to use tools that operate with large amounts of data, such as BERT, which is a model that helps analyze sentiments and classify comments based on what one of them expresses. In this work, this model will be used for the classification of YouTube comments and the classification of videos on this same platform, evaluating these videos according to their content and helping viewers to choose the videos if they help them concerning what is expected. find searching.

The present article is a quantitative study of the comments generated and published by users on March 8 and 9 on the YouTube video platform, about the International Women’s Day on March 8, 2020, known as #8M in Mexico City. Its purpose is to know what kind of issues, discussions and perceptions revolve around one of the most attended feminist demonstrations against gender violence and impunity in the face of a growing wave of femicide in Mexico. It also presents a discussion on the potential and risks of YouTube for cyber-feminism and protest, based on comments generated by users. The results show a space in which a strong misogyny, a high misunderstanding of feminism and the impossibility of a productive and dialogic conversation are manifested.

Culture and national identity are key aspects of the social and economic development of a country. Consequently, cultural communication promotes the processes linked to artistic activities and cultural manifestations that allow preserving the values of a nation and contribute to human and social development, creating a full awareness of the importance of cultural diversity at local, national, and international levels. This article, based on a descriptive-correlational study, evaluates and compares the effectiveness of governmental communication on YouTube about culture in the 19 Ibero-American countries that have a channel on this platform. The communication 2.0 index is used for this purpose (Altamirano-Benítez et al., 2018a; Túñez-López et al., 2016). The results reveal a scarce use of the potential of this channel as a tool for the promotion and dissemination of culture that incre...

This study explored the attitudes of young urban consumers (18-28 years old) in Metropolitan Lima towards advertising saturation on YouTube. Aligning with the increasing interaction between brands and consumers on social networks, and how this impacts advertising effectiveness and purchase behavior, the research applied a qualitative interpretive paradigm, using a phenomenological design. In-depth interviews were conducted to gain detailed insights into perceptions of invasive advertising and receptivity towards short ads with high emotional content and artistic quality. This phenomenological approach revealed a tendency toward a preference for advertising that resonates emotionally and is aesthetically pleasing, despite a widespread resistance to excessive ads. The findings suggest that brands could benefit from advertising strategies that emphasize personalization and emotional connect...
