Diversos estudios reportan que la proporción de mortalidad en pacientes con la infección por Covid-19 es mayor que aquellos intervenidos de emergencia sin la infección activa; sin embargo, en el país no se tienen estudios enfocados en la comparación de ambos grupos intervenidos para cirugía gastrointestinal de emergencia y su repercusión en los resultados postoperatorios en cuanto a mortalidad y desarrollo de complicaciones. Objetivo: Determinar la tasa de mortalidad y complicaciones postoperatorias en pacientes con y sin covid postoperados de cirugía gastrointestinal de emergencia. Materiales y métodos: Análisis de datos de historias clínicas registradas en el servicio de emergencia del Hospital Nacional Cayetano Heredia en Perú. Se extraerá los datos de pacientes adultos que se sometieron a cirugía gastrointestinal de emergencia entre el 1 de enero del 2020 hasta el 31 de diciembre del 2021. La variable exposición será la infección por SARS-CoV-2 confirmada mediante prueba antigénica o molecular positiva. Las variables resultados serán la mortalidad y el desarrollo de complicaciones postoperatorias. La asociación entre variable independiente y dependiente se medirá mediante el chi cuadrado de Pearson.

Various studies report that the mortality rate in patients with Covid-19 infection is higher than in those who undergo emergency surgery without active infection; however, in the country there are no studies focused on the comparison of both groups undergoing emergency gastrointestinal surgery and its impact on postoperative results in terms of mortality and development of complications. Objective: To determine the mortality rate and postoperative complications in patients with and without Covid who undergo emergency gastrointestinal surgery. Materials and methods: Analysis of data from medical records recorded in the emergency service of the Cayetano Heredia National Hospital in Peru. Data will be extracted from adult patients who underwent emergency gastrointestinal surgery between January 1, 2020, and December 31, 2021.
