Resúmenes4 páginas, 1 póster.Entre la Cordillera de la Costa y el borde Oeste de la Cordillera Occidental afloran secuencias sedimentarias cuya edad va desde el Paleozoico al Cenozoico. El área de estudio se localiza en la provincia de Caravelí, departamento de Arequipa y se enmarca dentro de los trabajos de actualización de la carta geológica nacional a escala 1/50000 que realiza el INGEMMET. Los resultados del estudio cartográfico nos muestran secuencias sedimentarias paleozoicas (Grupos Ambo y Tarma) y cenozoicas (Gpo Moquegua), cuyos contactos en algunos casosson fallas importantes de orientación E-O (Sistema de fallas Iquipí – Clavelinas) y NO-SE (Falla Torre Grande).
