P <0,05. Resultados: El espesor del hueso alveo...

Objective: To evaluate the in vitro antimycotic effect of Origanum vulgare essential oil on Candida albi-cans strain ATCC 10231 Material and method: Selection of four different oregano geotypes was carried out, the essential oils were obtained by distillation by Drag with steam; Its quantitative chemical com-position was determined by Gas Chromatography, Mass Spectrometry (GC / MS). The antimicrotic activity of essential oils was evaluated in vitro through sensitivity tests with the disk diffusion method in agar culture against C. albicans. Results: The results showed high antimycotic activity of all oils from the concentration of 12.5%. Conclusions: Essential oils of Origanum vulgare from different geotypes show differences in their antifungal effects. The essential oil of Origanum vulgare may be is a pharmacological alternative for the treatment of fungal infections in the mouth.

One of the aims of a root-end filling material placed in an apicectomy treatment is to provide apical seal that can inhibits the coronary migration of antigens to perirradicular tissues. Many materials are used for this end; however, to date there has not been any material that satisfies all the requirements of an ideal material. With the purpose of making a comparative analysis of the apical sealing abilities of three root-end filling materials: silver amalgam, glass ionomer and MTA (mineral trioxide aggregate), in the leakage process of Enterococcus Faecalis bacteria and the time used for it to leak via coronary toward the perirradicular area, the present investigation was made. Leakage was proven when veering the fenol red glucose, in which the apexes of the sample teeth were submerged, to a temperature of 37ºC. The results showed that specimens that leakage in longer than 70 days we...

Aim: To compare the sealing capacity of mineral trioxide (MTA®) and tricalcium silicate (Biodentine®) for retrograde filling in single-root permanent teeth. Materials and methods: Thirty-eight permanent single-root teeth with complete apical closure were selected and randomly divided into two experimental groups (n = 15): Group 1: MTA®, and Group 2: Biodentine®, in addition to positive and negative controls. Root treatment was performed with the MTWO rotary system, and obturation was carried out by means of the continuous wave thermoplastic system (Beefill) using Grossman-type cement as a sealant. Apical end apicoectomy was performed followed by the preparation of standardized retro-apical cavities and the respective fillings with MTA ® and Biodentine® according to the study group. Subsequently, the specimens were subjected to an apical filtration process of Chinese ink and transpa...
