El 69 % de los profesionales no tiene conocimientos sobre las ventajas de encontrarse educado financieramente. Por lo tanto, se ha vuelto algo indispensable dado el número creciente de productos que ofrecen los mercados financieros y sus efectos en el desarrollo económico de las regiones y la calidad de vida de su población. Es evidente que una de las causas de la crisis económica mundial, última  haya sido la carencia de este modo de educación. Se analiza a detalle las definiciones y conceptos de la educación financiera, se describen los principales aspectos que deben ser incluidos en los currículos de las diferentes facultades  profesionales y se recomiendan algunas medidas para el impulso de dicha práctica.
