The aim of this study was to evaluate the non-linear Gompertz, logistic, Von Bertalanffi and Richards models to find the model that best describes the growth of early culling guinea pigs. The research was carried out in a commercial farm of Peru breed guinea pigs located in the province of Huaura, Peru. Ten males and 12 females were used, which were periodically weighed from birth to 69 days. The feeding was basically with green fodder. The degree of adjustment of the non-linear models of the weight and age of the animals was evaluated through the mean square of the error (CME) and the Akaike (AIC) and Bayesian (BIC) criteria. The logistic non-linear model was the one that best described the growth of the guinea pigs fed with green forage and allowed the elaboration of the growth standard for early culling.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the presentation of Porcine Respiratory Reproductive Syndrome (PRRS) across the years and determine its effect on productive and reproductive parameters. The productive performance of 210 Camborough 22 sows that farrowed from 2013 to 2015 in a pig farm in Lima, Peru was evaluated. The characteristics under analysis were: mean litter size per week (NT), total piglets born alive (NV), total piglets born dead (NM), liveweight of piglets born (PVLN), total weaned piglets (LD), live weight of weaned piglets (PVLD), mortality of piglets at weaning (MLD), live weight of piglets at 70 days (PVL70) and mortality of piglets at 70 days (ML70). The increase of NM above the normal limits of control charts lasted 13 weeks. It was evident from week 95 (fourth week in October 2014) and continued through week 108 (second week in February 2015). In the year of present...

Conclusio...

The aim of this study was to determine the optimum level of oregano (Origanun vulgare) in the diet on the productive performance of broilers. A total of 120 1-day-old male chickens from the Cobb-500 line were randomly distributed in four treatments: 0, 0.5, 1.0 and 1.5% of dried and ground oregano in the diets. The final bodyweight, feed consumption and feed conversion were determined. Data was analysed by an analysis of variance through a completely randomized design and the Tukey test for the comparison of means. The polynomial regression and the derivative of a quadratic function were used to find the optimum level of oregano in the variables. The levels of oregano influenced bodyweight, feed consumption and feed conversion (p<0.05), denoting a quadratic effect. On average, the optimum level of oregano in the diet was 0.71%.

The intensive use of growth-promoting antibiotics (APC) has led to bacterial resistance with harmful effects on health, in this situation it is necessary to look for alternative products, such as phyt1ogenic products. The objective of the research was to evaluate the effect of garlic and onion flour in the diet on productive performance and batch uniformity in broilers. 150 male beef chickens of the Cobb 500 line were used. The broilers were randomly distributed into three groups with five replications and each replication with ten chickens. The treatments were: T0: Negative control, without APC; T1: Positive control, with APC (Enramycin 8%); T2: Garlic flour 0.75% + onion 0.75%. The productive performance variables were: live weight, feed consumption, feed conversion and batch uniformity. The analysis of variance of a completely randomized design (DCA) and the Tukey test were used to ev...
