In the learning of mathematics, students' oral and written vocabulary can inform about some concepts and their form of mental representation. This is one of the objectives proposed in this study. For this, a test was implemented that addresses six mathematical concepts linked to the numerical system and positional value. The sample included 40 students from Santiago Chile from three educational centers (municipal, private subsidized and private) randomly selected, with an age range of 10 to 17 years. The analysis of the results evidenced the importance of vocabulary in specific contexts to access lexical availability and its associated concepts. This line of research allows to study lexical categorizations and expand the field of vocabulary instruction in mathematics. One conclusion of the study is the teaching of mathematics as a language and not as a mere procedure.

The assessment of climate change impacts on water resources and flood risk is typically underpinned by hydrological models calibrated and selected based on observed streamflow records. Yet, changes in climate are rarely accounted for when selecting hydrological models, which compromises their ability to robustly represent future changes in catchment hydrology. In this paper, we test a simple framework for selecting an ensemble of calibrated hydrological model structures in catchments where contrasting climatic conditions have been observed. We start by considering 78 model structures produced with the FUSE modular modelling framework and rely on a Pareto scheme to select model structures maximizing model efficiency in both wet and dry periods. The application of this approach in three case study basins in Peru enables the identification of structures with good robustness, but also good p...

The objective of this article is to analyze the role of urban planning and building parameters in guaranteeing the right to adequate housing in Metropolitan Lima, with emphasis on social housing (SIV). To this end, we develop a state of the art on the urban regulation of SIV until December 2022, which shows that there is no consensus among the different levels of government regarding the mechanisms to promote the production of SIV and guarantee the right to housing. Then, we analyze the impact of urban and building parameters on the right to housing and other legal rights and goods.Based on this analysis, we present two arguments.First, we argue that the urban and building parameters approved by the municipalities of Metropolitan Lima represent a case of exclusionary zoning, as they limit or prohibit the production of ...

The following article evidences the importance of considering the concept and the components of the right to the city in the Peruvian legislation. For that purpose, it considers the growing recognition of the importance of cities under the ‘New Urban Agenda’ and the search for assurance of decent life quality for the inhabitants of a city. Moreover, the authors propose to overcome the conception of the city as a physical space where its sole purpose is to produce individual wealth and benefits, for its recognition as a space of interaction and citizen development as a collectivity. Based on this definition, the right to the city implies a guiding principle that seeks to generate spaces for community participation, a fair distribution of urban charges and benefits, and the promotion of active citizenship.
