“Introduction: A significant antibiotic prescribing pattern associated with the COVID-19 pandemic has been described. Multiple protocols included empirical antimicrobials, leading to a substantial increase in antimicrobial consumption in medical care. A higher mortality rate is described among patients diagnosed with COVID-19 who received antibiotics. Objectives: To determine the association between the use of antibiotics and the development of acute renal injury in patients infected with SARS-CoV-2 in patients treated at the Hospital II EsSalud de Ucayali, 2021. Methods: A cross-sectionalanalytical study was conducted, evaluating the medical records of patients admitted to the intensive care unit between July 2020 and July 2021. For the statistical analysis, measures of central tendency and dispersion, statistical hypothesis contrast tests were used in relation to acute kidney injury ...

The SARS-CoV-2 virus, also called COVID-19, was initially considered as an international public health emergency, and later it was declared as a pandemic. Due to the high spread of COVID-19 through droplets, the demand for personal protective equipment (PPE) for healthcare professionals has been remarkable, particularly filtering face-piece particulate respirators. Therefore, it is important to know the decontamination methods proposed for their application in our environment, considering the proper asepsis and antisepsis measures to be used, and also on how to preserve the integrity of the device (straps, nasal bridge and nasal foam material) and counting on its natural degradation process. Adequate methods for disinfecting these devices are as follows: using sterilizing ovens (dry heat), autoclave (steam), ultraviolet radiation (UV) and homemade vaporizers, which should be used accordi...

OBJECTIVES: To determine the levels and assessment of self-care in diabetic patients in three hospitals in Ucayali during 2017. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Analytical cross-sectional study, conducted in three hospitals in Ucayali during 2017 with a sample size of 572 participants through a stratified random sampling. A self-administered survey was applied that evaluated the general characteristics, the Diabetes Knowledge Questionnaire 24 (DQK-24), the patient's attitude by the Diabetes Attitude Scale (DAS-3) and Summary of Diabetes Self Care Activities Measure (SDSCA) which mediates self-care practices. RESULTS: From 572 patients, 50.8% being women, with the median age of 47 years (RIQ: 35-56). Hypertension (22.4%) was the most frequent comorbidity. Also, having an adequate knowledge about their disease (RPa: 2.47; 95% CI: 13.5-4.50), strict control (RPa: 1.34; 95% CI: 1.09-1.65) predispose a...

Introduction: The medical internship is an entirely hospital stage where the mistreatment can adversely affect students' performance. The study's objective was to determine the characteristics and factors associated with the perception of abuse in medical interns in Peru. Materials and methods: Multicenter, cross-sectional and analytical study. We surveyed medical interns from eighteen Peruvian hospitals. Sociodemographic characteristics included a scale that mediates the perception of psychological, physical, and sexual mistreatment in the study. The researchers used generalized linear models and prevalence ratios at 95% confidence intervals. Results: 418 medical interns participated, 52.9% were women. The psychological, physical, and sexual mistreatment perceived was 91.9%, 55.5%, and 34%, respectively. A relationship was found in medical interns who perceived psychological maltreatmen...
