Con el propósito de describir el nivel de felicidad que tienen los estudiantes de educación superior en Lima Metropolitana se diseñó una investigación no experimental, de alcance descriptivo y transeccional; así como con enfoque cuantitativo, lo que permitió analizar los resultados utilizando diversas herramientas estadísticas. In the theoretical order, there is a dispersion of published scientific literature on thought, trends and practice regarding science, technology and innovation in Latin America. The objectives of the study were: 1) to examine Latin American policies on science, technology and innovation and 2) to identify trends and patterns around the thinking, determinants and practices carried out for the development of science in Latin America. The study identifies the aspects that typify science and technology policies in Latin America, the eurocentric paradigms and the coloniality of knowledge. The Latin American initiatives for the emancipation of science are examined. Introduction: Mechanical ventilation is a cornerstone in the management of critically ill patients worldwide; however, less is known about the clinical management of mechanically ventilated patients in low and middle income countries where limitation of resources including equipment, staff and access to medical information may play an important role in defining patient-centred outcomes. We present the design of a prospective, longitudinal study of mechanically ventilated patients in Peru that aims to describe a large cohort of mechanically ventilated patients and identify practices that, if modified, could result in improved patient-centred outcomes and lower costs.
