This paper presents an experience related to the design, development and validation of the Wawa mobile application to be used as an educational tool for learning the Kichwa language for the communities of the Napo River in Loreto, Peru. For the validation we have resorted to the comparison of two learning methodologies, the traditional one and the experimental one in which the use of the mobile application is given. The results of the tests with school-age students have shown a superior effectiveness with the use of the application, compared to the traditional teaching method.

It includes results of a mobile app development and validation process made for children of pre school education in the indigenous community Centro Arenal (Huitoto ethnic group), to learn the basic content of their parents' native language through mobile devices (cell phones and tablets). And once that strengthen their cultural identity. Since 10 years ago Loreto is the last in educational indicators. In the Peruvian Amazon, 43 official languages are spoken, 27 of them in Loreto (all the Amazonian languages are in danger of disappearing). The intercultural bilingual education system is very limited (single-parent, multi-grade and multi-course) also, there is not educational content printed in indigenous languages. The results were favorable, being the application a relevant alternative, usable and accessible for educational institutions and Huitoto families.
