description Muchos estudiantes de idiomas tienen un bajo rendimiento en las tareas de redacción de los exámenes internacionales; por ello, la presente investigación se centra en el análisis de las actividades y contenidos propuestos en los textos de preparación para uno de estos exámenes donde se evalúa la redacción de textos cortos y largos: PET. La metodología empleada es un diseño cualitativo-analítico que parte de la microevaluación de los materiales. Entre las conclusiones que se han extraído en este estudio se encuentran: los libros consideran algunas etapas del proceso de escritura, pero no presentan actividades para cada etapa en todas sus unidades; no se tiene muy en cuenta las estrategias de autocontrol o metacognitivas para el aprendizaje de lenguas extranjeras; los libros presentan actividades destinadas a desarrollar las habilidades de lectura y escritura, pero estas no se relacionan entre sí; las actividades o estrategias no se presentan de manera consistente. En resumen, esta investigación ha generado información relevante sobre el contenido, las estrategias y el enfoque que se puede utilizar en los libros de PET para mejorar el desempeño de los estudiantes en actividades de redacción.
