This research project modeled and simulated a ventilation system at a Mining Concession, obtaining real-time information regarding the fans used to ventilate the mine. The simulation was developed using the VENTSIM 5 software, which also helped define the number of fans and the operating parameters required, field information, mine dimensions, the mining method, production, geothermal gradient, gas emission, air stream, and air pressure. In addition, the results from software operation revealed the need to open chimneys and use fans. Furthermore, the results also suggest that a specialist dedicated to ventilation and fan maintenance must be hired to formalize mining operations as per the Occupational Safety and Health Mining Regulations from Executive Action No. 024-2016-EM as this Mining Concession is currently operating without license.

In the present work, the simulation model of groundwater flow in a stationary regime has been elaborated in the area of ​​the Ticlio mining unit over 300 hectares of surface and 4814 meters of altitude. Geologically, the unit is made up of karst aquifers and fissured and clastic aquitards, which store and carry water. The main source of recharge of the aquifers are the precipitations that occur during the rainy periods and the melting of the glaciers, which are stored in the San Nicolás and Santa Catalina lagoons, constituting these as the recharge sources of the mentioned aquifers during the periods of low water. The present study addresses aspects that must be considered in the sizing of the equipment for material loading and haulage (ore and waste) in an open-pit mine in the Central-West Region of Brazil. This is a complex process because a significant number of variables that limit the activities intrinsic to the loading and hauling operations are involved in the analysis. Such variables are: production rates per unit of time, physical-mechanical characteristics of the material, hauling distances, topography, access design, hauling routes, cycles, and fleet performance (truck, shovel). Additionally, there are other external variables that also condition a normal operation, such as rain, snow, fog and seismic movement. The purpose of this study is to size the fleet of the loading and hauling equipment that fulfills the processing plant requirements in an efficient manner.

The following work focuses on the kinematic and dynamic study of a four-wheeled robot, which is equipped with omnidirectional Mecanum wheels. The main objective of the thesis is to obtain a mathematical model from which both the kinematics and kinetics of the robot can be analyzed. Furthermore, the study presents a methodology to optimize the torques (and subsequent associated voltages) provided by each of the motors on the robot for a given trajectory. We study a system formed by M dimers through half-filled two-site Hubbard model, with two electrons. Our approach use the third version of Nonextensive Statistical Mechanics as tool for calculating thermodynamic and magnetic parameters such as entropy, internal energy, magnetization and specific heat. In the computer simulations, we vary the q entropic index values between 1 and 2, such that, q = 1.0, 1.4, 1.7 and 2.0. These values are interesting to study small magnetic systems. We find the critical temperature regions in simulations with the simple Hubbard model, i.e. without the intersite interaction. For other side, adding this additional term, we notice an enlargement and shifting of the thermodynamic parameters comparing with the obtained from simple Hubbard model; even more, we found in some cases the absence of the critical temperature regions.

This research aims to develop a simulation model, for the operation of hydraulic and hydrological system of the Rima-Santa Eulalia River basin that includes the H. P. Huanza project now in construction, with purposes of power generation, water supply for agricultural use and drink water for population of Lima and Callao. The hydraulic system is formed by hydroelectric EDEGEL S.A. that operate using the regulated and unregulated flow of the Santa Eulalia river basin, Rímac river basin, Marcapomacocha Lake watershed and flows into the tunnel Trasandino infiltrators. We present the simulation of the application of the Model-based Predictive Control (MPC) of the drum level in a Combined Cycle Plant in order to minimize the time for reaching the highest capacity of plant, around 225 MW. In contrast to others control techniques, our simulation yields that the MPC has shown capabilities as to reach its expected power in about 40 minutes before than PID, time which normally takes the whole industrial process under this control. In the present study, we have tested up to three different reference functions in order to compare performance during the drum level control. According to the simulations, the MPC working together with these reference functions is seen to be promising in the sense of providing efficiency to the plant from the startup until the time when system is reaching 225 MW. We have also calculated a minor discrepancy of order of lees than 5%.

We present a model of Probability of Success Call Completion (PSCC) from a typical I/O procedure and computationally tested through Monte Carlo simulation with Gaussian profiles. Under the I/O view the input and transfer functions are prepared without to abandon the randomness nature of the phenomenology. Because kernels are required by the I/O formulation, we have assumed that the Dirac-Delta functions play the role of kernels in according to the I/O representation. The results would indicate that under certain circumstances the formulation I/O is valid by a 10% of error respect to the Meo-Ajmone model. However, the weakness of the I/O approach would be in the extraction of a large number of free parameters, which do not necessarily encompasses the dynamic of phenomenon.

The quasi homogeneous diffusion model is used to simulate the ion exchange kinetics in batch systems. The theoretical equation predicts that rate exchange is controlled by the ratio weight of the ion exchanger to volume of solution and the resistances to mass transfer in the particle and in the liquid.
