The memory of a place refers to atypical moments in history as much as regular events whichimpact in the collective memory; the everyday leaves a footprint in places. The house is therealm of this everyday memory. When inhabitants have more possibilities to change its configuration, in order to make it match directly to their needs and histories, the building showsthe traces of the construction of memory.Through the observation of self-help housing in peripheral neighbourhoods in Lima – wheredesigner, builder and inhabitant are all one person – we see that function acts upon structure, and shows history through it. Built space describes the inhabitant’s life. Changes in thehouse and its aspect are the skin of the family’s history. The memory in self-built city is born of the sum of changes in individual structures: a symbolism that emerges out of the everydayness. Identity in such...

The present research aims to analyze the development of the complex process of self-construction for the occupation of houses in the district of Chilca - Huancayo, it has a quantitative-qualitative approach with a descriptive, cross-retrospective design. A non-probabilistic sample of self-built homeowners was selected from a block in the Puzo neighborhood, in the Chilca district. The research methodology was analytical in scope and empirical level method, it was used as data collection instruments: technical sheets on the houses and semi-structured interviews with the owners. The results showed that self-construction is a real situation that has gradually increased in the Chilca district and it is necessary to know more about this process to propose actions, policies and responsibilities. The study concluded that in the technical-construction aspect, advice on the matter, quality control...

This contribution analyzes the role fulfilled by International Labor Standards and, specifically, by social clauses in Free Trade Conventions and Agreements, as a way of preventing social dumping and building a social dimension in the globalization and regionalization of economy. The author offers the case of the MERCOSUR Labor and Social Declaration, issued in 2015, which amends that of the year 1998, studying its contents, legal efficacy and supervision mechanisms. He emphasizes the fact that social charters generally limit themselves to recognizing fundamental or basic labor rights already found in the legislation of the member countries, but which are nonetheless useful for hindering attempts to deregulate or relax social and labor provisions.

The purpose of the research was to obtain a better understanding of the processes of school self-evaluation. To this end, an attempt was made to understand the experiences and perceptions of the main actors involved in an institutional self-evaluation process in which the possibility of a participative construction of the school model was offered, as well as the indicators and evaluation instruments of the same. This self-assessment process lasted two years and involved 30 schools of different educational levels and had the presence of a facilitator and an economic incentive from the regional government. The information was gathered from a survey and documentary review. The results of the study showed that people are open to collaborate and be part of self-evaluation processes. Furthermore, the figure of external support for the development of capacities is necessary. It was also discove...

Suicide is a serious and significant public health problem, representing the loss of 720,000 lives each year. However, it is one of the most preventable deaths. The aim of this research was to develop a 24-item test that assesses self-efficacy in the management of suicidal crises, which was applied to an accidental sample of 488 participants, community agents from a private higher education institution in Peru. Among evidence-based interventions, one of the most important is training in suicide risk management for community agents. In this context, self-efficacy is a factor that can favor the performance of these agents, which is why it is relevant that an intervention impacts the perceived self-efficacy of the participants and to have adequate instruments to measure it. As a result of the psychometric analyses, the final 18-item scale showed good fit to the Rasch model, evidence of unid...

Academic self-efficacy is a powerful predictor of academic success, yet there are several factors that predispose it. Because of this, an explanatory model is proposed using the self-regulation of academic activities, positive affection, and personality. Hierarchical multiple linear regression was used to support the predictive proposal of the model. The Specific Perceived Self-Efficacy Scale of Academic Situations, The Scale of Positive and Negative Experience, Subscale Self-Regulation of Activities of the Academic Procrastination Scale, and Mini International Personality Item Pool (MINI-IPIP) were used. High correlations were obtained in the self-regulation of activities, positive affection, and personality (extraversion, concientousness and openness to experience) to academic self-efficacy. The final predictive model explained 30.1% of the total variance of academic self-efficacy. In ...

Learning strategies are a set of cognitive actions that are taken consciously, if we relate information in a meaningful way, knowledge will be easily remembered. For this to happen, first information will be processed and then action is taken.  Beginning from the subject to the problem. Likewise, these learning strategies are intentional processes that a student uses to  acquire, relate, process, retain, retrieve and regulate the information, in order for learning to be effective. That is, students use a learning strategy when they are able to adjust their behavior (what they think and do) to the demands of an activity or task given by the teacher and to the circumstances and vicissitudes in which this task occurs. When students employ a strategy they are, at all times, aware of their purposes but whenever they move away from them, they a...

What is it like to live without questioning the meaning of existence? This document proposes how something as common and chaotic as existential crises can find transformation and change through drama therapy. This therapeutic tool facilitates emotional expression through drama (acting, play, dramaturgy, masks, among other elements of theatrical art) and generates powerful introspection processes in participants through their self-awareness, through provocative questions posed by the drama therapist. The social symptoms of existential emptiness end up generating emotional difficulties that can even lead to the loss of life for those who experience them. For this reason, it is decided to work with young people, as they are the population most affected by this problem. In other words, drama therapy aims to propose a path that approaches the construction of the purpose for which young people...

This document is based on a recent study on the relation between ethnicity, culture, «race» and ancestry among Afro-Peruvians. Findings show that while construction of the «black» or Afrodescendant identity in Peru holds the cultural dimension as a central component, it mainly - and fundamentally- revolves around the idea of the existence of a «black race». According to these «racialized» identity criteria, the boundaries of an Afro-descendant «we» cover only those with certain phenotypic markers that Afro-Peruvians themselves consider as defining membership in the «black race». The phenotypical «evidence» of «blackness» thus appears as a kind of «necessary condition» for the «black»/Afro- Peruvian identity. This form of self-identification poses a threat to the political discourses and projects of Afro-Peruvian organizations seeking to build a «de-racialized...

The preparation of an intestinal elimination stoma implies a change in the body image and functioning of a person who, as a consequence, must relearn self-care in terms of elimination, whose behavior was learned since childhood. The aim of this trial is to analyze in depth whether learning is a determining factor or an instrumental means for the conscious (re)construction of self-care in patients with intestinal elimination stomas. For the analysis, the assumptions of Dorothea Orem's theory have been taken as a reference, who points out that self-care is a system of human self-regulation that requires the stimulation of cognitive behavioral processes through participatory learning. Likewise, it is postulated that each person learns at an individualized pace since this ability is determined by emotional intelligence, which we will have for the learning of practical skills. The loss of sel...

Intelligence is a construct of notable impact in our sociocultural context, related to a wide range of conceptual and operational definitions which originate positions that highlights cognitive and abstract elements and emotional and social skills, as well was perspectives that are focused on processes underlying the intelligent performance, such as in the case of executive functions (EFs), which are configured as cognitive processes that make it possible the self-regulation (Miyake & Friedman, 2012). Similarly, there are approaches that give intelligence a relevant and predictive role of school performance, an aspect strengthened by the psychometric perspective, where the concept of intelligence has been closely linked to learning. In this line, we also find the classical perspective of crystallized Intelligence of Cattell (1943), which refers to the knowledge acquired through educa...

The present work aims to interpret the relationships between the feeling of recognition that students build and the production of violence against their own body. The arguments presented refer to the results of a socio-educational research in which the meanings that students construct about emotions and bodies and their relationship with the production of violence in two secondary schools in the Province of Buenos Aires, Argentina. Based on the testimonies produced by the socio-educational study where 40 students from two state public schools in peripheral urban areas of the city of La Plata, Province of Buenos Aires, Argentina were interviewed, it is possible to affirm that the need for self-assertion constitutes an axis central in the processes of juvenile subjectivation.  In line with the qualitative approach adopted, in-depth interviews and focus groups were selected as data col...

The smallpox plague is one of the fundamental themes that are addressed in Stories of the Tobas Aboriginals of the Gran Chaco as told bytheir elders (2007), by Orlando Sánchez. It is sometimes presented as something spontaneous and inaccessible; others, as a perceptible entity, capable of being controlled. From the perspective of Functional-Systemic Linguistics, the lexicon and grammar of Spanish codify the modes of referring to events in the form of structures that are nucleated around classes of verbs: the processes that are shown as self-generated are generally formulated with inacusative verbs, while those in which the will of the agents are constructed with transitive verbs. In the testimonies that the book unfolds, the transitive and the ergative perspective are combined, and both give an account of the ways of conceiving the disease and the effects it produces in the Qom community...
