A clinically significant case is reported, as it is the first to be published in the region. It refers to a patient who was admitted to the hospital through the emergency department after four days ofillness. The initial clinical presentation included lower limb edema and functional class II dyspnea, which progressed to class IV. A 12-lead electrocardiogram showed atrial tachycardia with a heart rate of 187 bpm. Sequential administration of adenosine, verapamil and electrical cardioversion was unsuccessful. Subsequently, amiodarone was given, leading to the restoration of sinus rhythm. On the second day of hospitalization, the patient developed frequent ventricular ectopic beats and episodes of supraventricular ectopic beats, for which amiodarone was continued. On the third day, he presented with an increased frequency of ventricular ectopy and non-sustained ventricular tachycardia, whic...

Landslides, triggered by heavy rains, constitute globally impactful natural disasters that wreak havoc on both people and infrastructure. It is crucial to develop predictive systems and efficient alerts, incorporating technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT) to gather environmental data and prevent significant losses. Therefore, the aim of the study was to design and develop an early warning system for landslides using a microcontroller-based wireless sensor network. A digital rocker rain gauge and the MPU 6050, DHT22 and FC-28 sensors were employed. These sensors were distributed at nodes along the Quebrada del Diablo in the city of Tacna. The values captured at each node were processed by the DEVKIT V1 NodeMCU-32 development board, based on the ESP32 microcontroller, and transmitted to a central node through a ZigBee mesh network using Digi's XBee3 devices. The central node wa...

This paper shows pair breaking and electrostatic (Coulomb) interaction effects on the distribution of mass and kinetic energy in cold fission of 233U, 235U and 239Pu thermal neutron induced. The fission process ends at the scission point, when the complementary fragments 1 and 2, having masses y A1A2 are formed. Those fragments goes away each other and acquire kinetic energies y E1E2. The fragments emit neutrons eroding mass and kinetic energy distribution. In order to avoid these disturbances, cold fission, i.e. with no neutron emission, is studied. Contrary to expected, for that excitation energy region, tough weak, an even-odd effect is observed. This result is not incompatible with a strong odd-even effect on the charge distribution or neutron number distribution. Moreover In cold fission, the minimum value of total excitation energy ( ), as a function of , is correlated with the "Cou...

The fission process ends at the scission point, when the complementary fragments 1 and 2, having masses y are formed. As a result, in regions where the average of varies abruptly as function of , the distribution of will be wider than it was for the distribution of as a function of . Furthermore, the emission of neutrons erodes odd-even effects on the distribution of neutron number, defined as the difference between the relatives yields of fragments with even and odd, respectively. Neutron emission, consequently, also erodes ...

During the last decade, there was a substantial increase in the research on metal-doped oxide semiconductor nanoparticles due to advances in the engineering of nanomaterials and their potential application in spintronics, biomedicine and photocatalysis fields. In this regard, doping a nanomaterial is a powerful tool to tune its physicochemical properties. The aim of this work is to shine a new light on the role of the neighbouring elements on the oxidation state of the Ce-impurity, from both experimental and theoretical points of view. Herein, we present an accurate study of the mechanisms involved in the oxidation states of the Ce-ions during the doping process of SnO2nanoparticles (NPs) prepared by the polymeric precursor method. X-ray diffraction measurements have displayed the tetragonal rutile-type SnO2phase in all samples. However, the Bragg’s peak (111) and (220) located at 2??2...

The Schramm-Loewner Evolution, or SLE, is a chain of random compact sets that allows us to generate any random curve that satis es conformal invariance as well as the domain Markov property. Its construction goes through the solution of a random version of Loewner's deterministic equation: @tgt(z) = 2 gt(z) f(t) g0(z) = z where the continuous function f is replaced by a stochastic process p kB, where k is a positive constant and B a Brownian motion. This construction enables the inclusion of stochastic calculus tools in the study of the curves generated by the SLE. The main objective of this thesis is to provide an accessible and introductory description of SLE. To do this, Loewner's theorems, which allows us to establish bijections between families of hulls and families of biholomorphisms properly normalized in 1, as well as between real continuous functions of real variable and familie...

Maca is a Peruvian plant native to the central Andes attributed with sexual function, spermatogenesis, improve learning, memory and stress properties, which are reflective of the different colored types. However, the properties of maca are not only related to the ecotype or color, but also to its processing practices. Traditionally, maca is prepared by boiling. The objective of this study is to measure the in vitro antioxidant capacity of the black maca compared to the traditional preparation method and the maca hypoglycemic effect. The maca was divided in three groups based on the boiling time (30, 45 and 60 minutes). DPPH (2,2-diphenyl-1- picrylhydrazyl) and ABTS [2,2’-azinobis-(3-ethylbenzothiazoline)- 6-sulfonic acid] assays where performed in each of the maca sample in order to determine the total antioxidant capacity. A group of rats induced with diabetes via a streptozotocin sho...
