Human high-altitude (HA) adaptation or mal-adaptation is explored to understand the physiology, pathophysiology, and molecular mechanisms that underlie long-term exposure to hypoxia. Here, we report the results of an analysis of the largest whole-genome-sequencing of Chronic Mountain Sickness (CMS) and nonCMS individuals, identified candidate genes and functionally validated these candidates in a genetic model system (Drosophila). We used PreCIOSS algorithm that uses Haplotype Allele Frequency score to separate haplotypes carrying the favored allele from the noncarriers and accordingly, prioritize genes associated with the CMS or nonCMS phenotype. In Mexico, a high percentage of young people experience symptoms of generalized anxiety, which are associated with difficulties in executive functions (EF). However, previous studies have shown inconsistent results, as they often rely solely on either objective or subjective measures. Therefore, this study focused on analyzing the relationship between generalized anxiety and EF using both a neuropsychological battery and a self-report questionnaire, in order to provide a more comprehensive understanding of cognitive functioning in adolescents. El tema seleccionado surge a partir de los resultados arrojados por la última prueba PISA de la Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD, 2023), donde se observa el bajo rendimiento educativo en el Perú. Según Helga Solís, vocera de Seguro Social de Salud (EsSalud, 2024), el 64% de los alumnos de primaria y secundaria presentan dificultades de aprendizaje, lo que genera reprobaciones, repitencias y abandono escolar. Esta situación no solo responde a deficiencias pedagógicas e intelectuales, sino también a la falta de motivación estudiantil. Se enuncian los rasgos lingüísticos básicos del español del Caribe, particularmente los del español de Cuba, y se presenta un rasgo sintáctico característico de esta variedad dialectal: la expresión frecuente de los sujetos pronominales. Se describe el comportamiento del sujeto pronominal de segunda persona singular “tú” en un corpus oral de catorce entrevistas aplicadas a hablantes cultos de La Habana, Villa Clara y Matanzas, vinculándose la frecuente aparición de este pronombre con la Hipótesis de Compensación Funcional. Se verifica un aumento de frecuencia en la expresión de este sujeto, cuando se elide la marca morfémica verbal de segunda persona singular; pero el análisis de regresión lineal no indica la pertinencia de esa variable dependiente morfofonológica para la expresión del sujeto “tú”.
