Nowadays, some of the most popular tools for parallel programming are Message Passing Interface and Open Multi-Processing. It is of interest to compare these tools in solving the same kind of problems, because of the use of different approaches to inter-task communication. This work attempts to contribute to this goal by running trials in a centralized shared memory architecture in the case of problems with an entirely parallel solution. The selected case study was the parallel computation of Mandelbrot set. Trials were conducted for different iteration limits, processors amount, and C++ implementation variants. The results show better performance in the case of Open Multi-Processing.

In the present article, I propose some initial topics for the typological-comparative study of semantic parallelism, which also serve as an analytical axis to study semantic parallelism in traditional kakataibo chants. These basic topics are the structure of the cotext, lexical and grammatical type of parallel units, type of semantic relations between parallel units, number of parallel units per pair of lines, and associated phenomena such as recurrent or fixed pairing and diphrasism. Following this initial proposal, I postulate that the cotext in Kakataibo semantic parallelism is a repeated morphosyntactic structure that does not exhibit ellipsis or increasing, the number of parallel units can be one to three slots and one pair is more productive, parallel units are related by semantic fields such as kinship terms and colors. This study presents the design exploration and kinematic validation of a transtibial prosthesis based on a 2SPU-RU parallel mechanism. The prototype is currently at Technology Readiness Level 3 (TRL 3), indicating an early-stage concept that has been evaluated under controlled conditions. The mechanism replicates dorsiflexion–plantarflexion, inversion–eversion, and abduction–adduction, corresponding to ankle motion in the sagittal, frontal, and transverse anatomic planes. Purpose: Hereditary Breast and Ovarian Cancer (HBOC) syndrome is responsible for ~5–10% of all diagnosed breast and ovarian cancers. Breast cancer is the most common malignancy and the leading cause of cancer-related mortality among women in Latin America (LA). [The aim of this study was to determine the physical-mechanical properties of a 20-year-old plantation of the species Calycophyllum spruceanum, known as "capirona" in Peru, due to its potential in wood flooring production. Samples were taken from six trees in a plantation in Curimaná-Ucayali, Peru, and tests were conducted according to ASTM standards (ASTM D 143-94 – 2 000). The results revealed that capirona has a basic density of 0.68 g/cm3, categorizing it as heavy wood, with moderate dimensional stability. Mechanical properties indicated high resistance to bending and parallel compression, and very high resistance to perpendicular compression, hardness, shear, and toughness. Background: The burden of obesity differs by socioeconomic status. We aimed to characterise the prevalence of obesity among adult men and women in Latin America and the Caribbean by socioeconomic measures and the shifting obesity burden over time. Methods: We did a cross-sectional series analysis of obesity prevalence by socioeconomic status by use of national health surveys done between 1998 and 2017 in 13 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean. We generated equiplots to display inequalities in, the primary outcome, obesity by wealth, education, and residence area. In a series configuration, multiple pumps are placed in line, so that the output flow of one pump is directed to the input of the next pump.
