Patellar tendinopathy is characterized by anterior knee pain located at the lower pole of the patella at the junction of the patellar tendon. This is often a disabling condition that limits patients' quality of life, affects their ability to participate in sports, and even hinders their normal daily activities. Extracorporeal shock wave therapy (ESWT) has been recognized as a promising and safe alternative for the treatment of various musculoskeletal disorders – including chronic patellar tendinopathy. Se prepararon carbones activados a partir de dos precursores de la actividad forestal utilizando activación química en un solopaso con ZnCl2. Las capacidades de adsorción se determinaron con azul de metileno en soluciones sintéticas y con metalespesados de agua de un río contaminado. Las áreas superficiales específicas de los carbones activados se calcularon entre 1278y 1404 m2/g. Una caracterización de los materiales se realizó mediante FTIR, espectroscopía RAMAN, difracción de rayos Xy microscopía electrónica de barrido. La estructura porosa de ambos carbones activados fue predominantemente microporosacon presencia de mesoporos. This article studies the Vacunagate: a scandal during the early-2021 in Peru due to irregular inoculation of the Sinopharm candidate vaccine against COVID-19 during its experimental stage. We analyze the morality of this case in order to elucidate the public discussion on the conduct and supervision of clinical trials within the context of a Pandemic. We evaluate whether two actions were morally justifiable: (1) the use of a vaccine outside of a clinical trial, and (2) prioritizing some groups in that unusual allocation. These groups are (i) research staff of the clinical trial, (ii) public health officials leading the fight against the Pandemic, (iii) human acquaintances of the first two groups, and (iv) others. This article analyzes the right to consultation, guaranteed to indigenous peoples by ILO Convention 169, in its social, cultural, legal and political context. I draw on two case studies, one in Peru (the Rio Blanco case) and one in Guatemala (the Marlin mine case). Consultation has been an important element of both cases, but has played a different role in the two cases. Based on sixteen months of research in both countries, I argue that the right to consultation has been important for indigenous mobilization, primarily as a symbolic tool of legitimation, and less so as a legal mechanism.

The development of an automated electro-mechanical equipment for the manu¬facture of tapered optical fiber is presented, using the fusion and stretching method [1]. We describe two cases of spontaneous pneumomediastinum (SPM) that occurred in healthy, high-altitude native adolescent males when returning to their home from sea level. Both attended the Emergency Department of the Hospital Víctor Ramos Guardia in Huaraz, Ancash (3,052 m a.s.l.), in February 2020. Case 1 was a 16-year-old man who returned home (2,964 m a.s.l.) after twelve days at sea level (Lima). Six hours after returning, he went to work in the field. He then presented fatigue, cough, chest pain, dyspnea, and subcutaneous emphysema. Case 2 was a 17-year-old man who returned home (3,140 m a.s.l.) two weeks after staying at sea level (Barranca). Ovarian malignant germ cell tumors, although rare, are the most common type of malignant ovarian neoplasms in girls and adolescents; approximately two thirds of all cases occur in women under 20 years old. These tumors represent 2%-5% of all ovarian germinal tumors. Tumors comprise two or more types of germ cell components that include dysgerminoma accompanied by tumors of the endodermal sinus, embryonal cell carcinoma, mature or immature teratoma and/or choriocarcinoma. There are few case reports of mixed germ cell tumors with different combinations of malignant components. Se estima una tabla de vida estática empleando el estimador no paramétrico propuesto por Kaplan y Meier y la técnica de regresión polinómica local para la graduación empleando más de 8 millones de registros administrativos recolectados durante los años 2013 al 2017. Los resultados revelan que la brecha en expectativa de vida entre hombres y mujeres es menor respecto a lo reportado por la tabla vigente. Así, la diferencia en esperanza de vida medido a los 65 años de edad se reduce de siete a dos años, explicado por una disminución de la expectativa de vida de las mujeres de 2.4 años y un incremento de 2.1 años en el caso de los hombres. A static life table is estimated using the nonparametric estimator proposed by Kaplan and Meier and the local polynomial regression technique for the graduation using more than 8 million administrative records collected during the years 2013 to 2017. The results reveal that the gap in life expectancy between men and women is lower than that reported by the current table. Thus, the diference in life expectancy measured at 65 years of age is reduced from seven to two years, explained by a decrease in the life expectancy of women of 2.4 years and an increase in life expectancy from 2.1 years in the case of men. This work addresses the role which arbitration could occupy within the reparations system developed by the Inter-American Court of Human Rights when solving contentious disputes. In that sense, the only two precedents in which the Court entertained the possibility of considering arbitration as an alternative means for the determination of reparations shall be described: Garrido and Baigorria vs. Argentina and Chaparro Alvarez and Lapo Iñiguez vs. Ecuador. Objective: To present the perinatal results of two patients diagnosed with Ewing's sarcoma and alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma. Methodology: Two cases of patients with a diagnosis of sarcoma treated at the National Institute of Perinatology in Mexico City were reviewed. Results: Case 1, a 22-year-old female, with a 23.0-week pregnancy and a 20-cm tumor in the left gluteal region, pain and difficulty walking. The chest radiograph revealed multiple pulmonary nodules and the magnetic resonance imaging revealed a tumor in the gluteal region with extensive involvement. The diagnosis was stage IV metastatic Ewing sarcoma. Management consisted of symptomatic treatment with resolution of the pregnancy at 28 weeks. Of all patients, 63% were hospitalized in the last months of pregnancy. The tuberculostatic therapy was instituted in all cases currently in use; pregnancy monitoring was conducted by the obstetrician. Nevertheless, reactivations or postpartum lesion extensions have only reached 2%.
