This article advances in explaining the productive use of vuestro in Cusco Spanish (Peru), based on new fieldwork data. We highlight its plural meaning and its systematic integration into the paradigm of ustedes. We analyze its discursive value for contrasting groups with each other and its social indexicality as a marker of literacy. Finally, we outline three proposals on the aspects still to be studied: (1) the diatopic diffusion of PL vuestro in other parts of the Andean region (and outside the Andes); (2) its diachronic evolution (as a result of the hybridization of the paradigms of vosotros and ustedes); and (3) the indirect effect of language contact (the contrastive use of vuestro as a compensation strategy for regionally relevant communicative categories, grammaticalized in Southern Quechua).

In this paper we focus on the archaeological study of the, pre-Tawantinsuyo, Tarama and Guanca culture, analyzing its agricultural development in relation to the natural resources that offered the Central Andes and identifying their own particular cultural characteristics. For this purpose we conducted a series of archaeological surveys of the current territory of Junin, which was occupied by the Guancas and Taramas, and we also conducted archaeological excavations at the Guanca site of Anjushmarca. All the archaeological evidence we recorded during our research helped us better understand the development and production of Guancas and Taramas, which led us to undertake new theories on agriculture and livestock development in relation to the central Andes providing an approach closer to the Andean reality. Furthermore, in this article, we mentioned some criticisms and observations to the ...

Despite the relevance of personalization in research in Political Communication, as well as other fields of study, there is a state of confusion in the literature on the concept. The main reason is that there is no consensus around a widely shared definition. In addition, the personalization of politics can be approached from different perspectives, corresponding to the main actors involved in the political processes, that is, the media system, the political system and the citizens. Consequently, the results and conclusions are varied and, even occasionally, disparate. Therefore, this lack of conceptual clarity represents a limitation for progressing in the study of personalization. Hence the aim of this research is to propose a definition serving as a reference for further studies on this phenomenon.

In 1570 the Spanish Crown decided to create, in the overseas spaces, the Holy Office of the Inquisition in order to control, effectively, the religious manifestations of the people and their social behaviors, bringing intolerance towards those who had different practices. However, initially it had only two district courts installed in the viceroyalties capitals of Mexico and Peru. The other places, captaincies and governorates, were controlled by commissioners dependent on Mexico or Lima, as appropriate. In the case of the Government of Chile, several police stations were deployed between the two dioceses. However, they were not efficient enough to achieve the objectives proposed in the inquisitorial ideology, on the one hand because of precarious material, and on the other hand because of the lack of ad-hoc officials to fill the positions. This led to ...

Edu-communication is a field of study founded by the Latin American theoretical currents of liberating pedagogy, popular communication and cultural studies. This essay reviews their foundation and recent theoretical development in Peru. The three fundamental contributions of edu-communication are as follows: recognizing inter-subjectivity as being a critical element for understanding the interactions between individuals and media, the attention assigned to cultural communicative practices and political dimensions, and its focus on the individual rather than on the technological device, deviating from the more instrumental theoretical perspectives.

In recent years, corporate governance and corporate social responsibility have come closer in academic research, and especially on sustainability indexes. In fact, the most significant indexes handle the matter of corporate governance along with other environmental and social criteria. The purpose of this study is to find out if all the variables included in the corporate governance dimension on the above mentioned indicators are equally relevant and material for both corporate social responsability and corporate governance. To carry out the study, a sample of academics and professionals from Spanish universities and businesses sector was taken. We defend the plausible hypothesis that not all items included within corporate governance dimension on sustainability indexes are homogeneous and interchangeable and, therefore, equally relevant. As a result, the measurements provided by these i...

At the beginning of 2019, I received a cordial invitation from the Allpanchis editorial team to coordinate a dossier dedicated to the study of the American clergy. In defining this academic exercise, I determined that it was vital to make visible the ecclesiastical agents and their sociopolitical intermediaries, as well as the historical roles they fulfilled at different times in American history. To achieve this goal, it was vital not only to limit ourselves to a specific spatiality or temporality —the viceroyalty—, but also to consider the articulation of historical periods based on clerical agency. This is how the dossier that I have the honor to present exhibits research on the study of the American clergy in a long-term perspective that goes from the 16th century to the dawn of the 20th century, and that demonstrates the agency, accommodation, mediation , the links and the leadi...

This article examines the development of digital fabrication in Peru, focusing on Lima Makers, the country’s first maker space. Through this case, the study explores the dynamics of socialization, collaborative identity, and innovation practices in a context where digital fabrication intersects with local artistic and technological culture. Utilizing the concepts of recursive publics, communities of practice, and infrastructuring, the analysis shows how Lima Makers fosters cohesion among its members and encourages creativity, while also facing challenges in forming active recursive publics involved in the governance of digital fabrication in Peru. Furthermore, the article argues that this local dynamic reflects a process of cultural appropriation and the creation of new technological identities in the global south.

This study aims to know how the training processes of practicing teachers contribute to the construction of beliefs about teaching at the university. Froma qualitative methodology with agrounded theory approach, professors from public and private universities were selected through theoretical sampling. In-depth interviews were conducted to collect data whichwere analytically coded. Among the results it was found that the teachers' beliefs come frominstitutional training of a normative typewhich emphasizes a functional teaching in didactic techniques, use of technology and innovation, excluding training in knowledge of the discipline they teach. Thus,it was also found that teachers carry out self-training processes on a personal initiativefor updating scientific knowledgeand develop their practices teaching with strategies that they themselves use to learn, because they believe in their o...

Violence and insecurity associated with drug trafficking have generated high levels of crime in Mexico. The latter has led to an increase in crime rates among society and, furthermore, to a large part of the population perceiving insecurity and victimization as two of the country’s main problems. This article proposes an explanatory and psychosocial model to study fear of crime in Mexico. In order to achieve this, the perspectives of victimization, risk perception and vulnerability are addressed. A total of 443 university students participated in the study (49.9% men and 50.1% women) with a mean of 21.32 years (SD = 2.23). The results showed that having been a victim of a crime (victimization) and the perceived risk perception (contextual) further promote concern about the crime. In relation to gender (vulnerability), it was found that women are more concerned than ...

Women victims of sexual assault encounter several hurdles when seeking justice in Chilean legal institutions; however, recent efforts by the Chilean Supreme Court to fight bias against underrepresented groups have foregrounded the importance of applying a gender perspective in court trials. In light of the publication by the Chilean Supreme Court in 2019, I analyze the court ruling of a 2004 rape case that led Corporación Humanas?a feminist NGO?to file a petition before the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights. Given the ruling’s egregious biases, the NGO holds Chile responsible for the violation of several victims’ rights specified in international human rights treaties. Based on the written court ruling, I examine how the judges and other legal actors failed to deliver justice with a gender perspective. For that purpose, I analyze how the judges, the prosecutors, and the defe...
