This study includes the temporal analysis of the levels of NO2, CO, and ground-level O3 measured in Lima Metropolitana between the years 2015 to 2018 and the relationship between them and with air temperature and solar radiation. For this, descriptive, correlational, and regression temporal analyzes were carried out using hourly records taken in different areas of the city. The levels of the gases evaluated were mainly below the Peruvian regulations and the World Health Organization's air quality guidelines, so their influence on the health of the population was not relevant. The hourly levels of these gases were bimodal and were influenced by vehicular traffic for NO2 and CO, and by solar radiation for ground-level O3; although, the latter may also have been influenced by its nocturnal movement. Daily behavior showed the so-called "weekend effect". The correlation analysis indicated a h...

The global average background dose for a human being is about 2.4 millisievert (mSv) per year. This exposure is produced mainly by cosmic radiation and radioactive materials that are naturally in the environment and are the reason why the level of natural radiation of the background varies from one zone to another in some areas and that this level is significantly higher than the average [3]. Such areas include Ramsar in Iran, Guarapari in Brazil, Kerala in India, the northern Flinders Ranges in Australia and Yangjiang in China. In order to know the background radiation in our country, and their possible impacts on living things continue along these lines, the present study was conducted environmental ionizing radiation measurements along routes linking Cuzco to Machu Picchu. In these locations 10 measurements were made at random locations away at least 6 meters of buildin...

ABSTRACT This paper seeks to relate the level of perception and the use of protective measures by the population to bodily harm caused by the incidence of ultraviolet (UV) radiation. The research is relational in scope, cross-sectional in design and without manipulation of variables. As a procedure for collecting information, the survey was defined as a method, the interview as a technique and the questionnaire as an instrument; this tool was developed by the researcher and validated by experts. A population sample of 267 residents was used. The data collected was processed using the SPSS v. 25.0 program. The results allow us to assert the existence of a direct correlation between the perception of ultraviolet (UV) radiation and the measures adopted for their protection by the inhabitants of the city of Huaraz.

This work focuses on simple methods that allow comparison of the photoprotective effects of sunscreens. One such method described by Mansur and colleagues relies on the spectrophotometric measurements of the organic filters extracted with ethanol. The extracts are subjected to absorbance measurements in the of 290 to 320 nm range, with 5 nm intervals. The sunscreen sun protection factor (SPF) is estimated with an equation that relates each absorbance value with their respective erythemal effect, at the wavelength used for each measurement. In the current work, three commercial sunscreens were assayed using this method, which produced SPF values that were markedly lower than those declared by the manufacturers. These results prompted a more thorough analysis, which concluded that the Mansur method is not suitable for assaying sunscreens with SPFs above 15. The analysis included a survey o...

Cone Beam Computed Tomography offers highly precise 3D images ideal for diagnosis and case planning, although this imaging method involves the use of high doses of radiation. When considering the optimization principle, radiation dose reduction methods aim to modify the technical parameters of the equipment to obtain an ideal combination between dose and image quality. This is important in the pediatric patient because the highest levels of risk are associated with X-ray exposure in this age group. We present the case of an 11-year-old female patient is presented, in which a low-resolution protocol is used to locate the maxillary retained canines. The advantages and practical application of this imaging study method are analyzed by performing variations in exposure parameters. Supported by tomographic images, the surgical procedure is carried out to subsequently a guided eruption, achiev...
