The main objective of the research was to characterize the innovation network and estimate an innovation adoption rate to evaluate its relationship with income generation in quinoa producers in Cabana. The characterization of the innovation network has been carried out using the social network analysis methodology (SNA), the innovation adoption index (IAI) has been obtained through an ordinal measurement scale and the return of the level of adoption of innovations on Producers' income has been estimated using the two-stage least squares methodology (TSLS) through the data obtained in a survey of 268 producers. The weak articulation of social capital has been evidenced in Cabana quinoa producers; however, the network of customers and input suppliers is well defined. Most of the producers stand out for their innovations in the productive component, the main weakness is related to the scarc...

Quinoa (Chenopodium quinoa Willd) is an agricultural crop that was domesticated in the Andes of Peru and Bolivia, and that has managed to be produced in any type of soil, characterized by its high amount of nutrients and because it is a species that comes to combat abiotic stresses such as drought, salinity, among others. For example, in the face of drought and high temperatures, this crop becomes very tolerant as it has shown that it uses smaller amounts of water and adapts to fluctuations in the climate during biomass production, which makes it a great alternative for regions, arid and semi-arid. In this sense, the objective of this research article was to determine the vulnerability of the cultivation of quinoa to environmental stress events in the high Andean regions of Peru, through the development and analysis of the current distribution model and its future projections for 2050 an...

Peru, in the Latin American context, is the first exporter of Chenopodium quinoa Willd "quinoa". Despite this comparative advantage, this item, particularly in the producing departments of the country, is being underutilized and forgotten, a situation for which in recent years, research has been carried out aimed at promoting the production of C. quinoa. The purpose of this work is to evaluate the promotion of public investment for the production of quinoa crops in the province of Andahuaylas, Apurímac region, Peru, during 2023. The average production indicators are 2278 kg/ha of organic quinoa and 1943 kg/ha of traditional quinoa. The production cost per kg/ha is 2000 kg, the gross income is S/ 11,000.00, the gross margin is S/ 4040.88 and the Benefit/Cost 0.58, if medium technology is used. The main final market comprises 60% of the crop's production in the local market, 98.57% is sol...

The objective of this study was to determine the effect of changes in prices on food consumption of rural producers in Junin (Peru) in order to verify if there are some differences in food security between farmers who produce quinoa and those who do not. For this purpose, surveys were applied to 277 producers and the data from the National Household Survey (2016) were used to assess the dimensions of food security. It was found that local food has lower elasticity values than foreign one, but the variability of local food prices is higher. In addition, 27.3% of the population does not satisfy the caloric requirements, and that the quinoa consumption is associated with its nutritional value and cultural factors. In Junin’s rural population a low nutritional value consumption is evident, and there are not significant differences in the daily food consumption between producers who farm th...

Quinoa is a healthy food that possesses high levels of protein that is enriched for dietary essential amino acids. The crop is highly diverse and well-adapted to changing climatic conditions. In spite of being vulnerable to pests and diseases, the development of new resistant varieties is possible. Taking advantage of this genetic variability is crucial for breeding programs, especially to adapt quinoa to the shifting needs of producers. In this study, 25 Peruvian accessions and two commercial varieties were characterized and agronomically evaluated in the Peruvian Pacific desert. Specific methodologies and descriptors of existing crops were used, analyzing a total of 24 quantitative and 23 qualitative variables with 15 repetitions per accession. The data were processed using descriptive statistics and a multivariate analysis. The results showed a high variability in morphological charac...
