Soil conservation practices are a strategy to mitigate the constant degradation that can occur when crops are established. It is of great importance to evaluate the effect that this type of practices can have on the development of sugarcane plants. The objective of the study was to evaluate agronomic variables (population and stem weight, plant height and stem diameter) and quality of sugarcane juices (pH, content of soluble solids, reducing sugars, sucrose and phosphorus content) for panela production. For this, a one-factor experiment with two treatments (reduced and conventional tillage systems) was established in an area of 4000 square meters in the municipality of Vélez (department of Santander-Colombia). No statistically significant differences were observed (p > 0.05) in the evaluated variables, indicating that the evaluated tillage treatments do not interfere with both the de...

The garment manufacturing sector, particularly small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), represents a cornerstone of economic and social development. Despite their significance, these enterprises face operational inefficiencies, including high defect rates and limited productivity, exacerbated by resource constraints and inadequate maintenance practices. Previous studies have emphasized the potential of Lean Manufacturing and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) to address such challenges, yet their application in SMEs remains underexplored. This study aimed to develop and validate an integrated production model incorporating Lean tools such as 5S and work standardization, alongside TPM practices like autonomous maintenance. The model was implemented in a Peruvian textile SME specializing in polo shirts, achieving a 77.63% reduction in defective products and a 27.72% increase in productiv...

It has been demonstrated that economic growth is a required condition but not enough to reduce poverty and inequality, which are obstacles to the full development of every society. As a result, different perspectives have emerged to challenge the current measurement of development, based on gross domestic product (GDP). Inclusive growth is a new approach that offers a combination of increased prosperity and greater equity. This article argues that the perspective of inclusive growth can draw on strategies implemented as local economic development (LED), and that communication for development is a significant alternative to move from discourse to implementation of endogenous processes. This analysis is based on the reality of countries rich in natural resources, particularly Peru, where economic growth and reduction of monetary poverty have been considerable, while the quality of life of ...
