This paper is the result of the need for SMEs in the lodging industry to improve service quality while remaining cost-effective. The Sistema de Aplicación de Buenas Prácticas [Application of Good Practices System] (SABP) is a tool for SMEs, as it improves quality of services offered and their positioning, leveraging the zone and destination location, in order to optimize the quality of life in the community. Thus, this study proposes an application methodology that adjusts to the progress of said businesses, so that a balance between adequate administrative management processes, service, infrastructure and equipment, collaborator performance, and support areas is found.

La investigación nace como resultado de la necesidad de satisfacer a un gran grupo de empresarios propietarios de mypes en el ámbito del alojamiento que cuentan con establecimientos que aún se siguen perfilando hacia la calidad, pero muchos de ellos operando sin los conocimientos técnicos que les permitan brindar un mejor servicio a un coste adecuado. Por lo que, a través del estudio y años de trabajo relacionados a la actividad turística, se ha concluido en que planificar y ejecutar mejoras bien estructuradas dentro de los negocios relacionados directa e indirectamente a la actividad turística es necesario y urgente para poder alcanzar la calidad en el rubro en general, tanto a nivel de empresa como de destino.
