The Catholic Church in Peru has played a political role in various decision-making spheres within Peruvian society. During the period of the Peruvian independence, the Catholic Church kept a low profile and was rejected by the dominant political sector with a liberal tendency. However, such prominence arose after the war with Chile when due to the presidency of Nicolas de Piérola and the actions of the Lima widows, the resurgence of this organization was achieved. In this scenario, the Catholic Church in Peru would beginto show itself to the population as an organizing entity, protector of women and at the same time as a defenderof a social politics based on charity and on others. This new role would be reinforced throughout the20th century due to the application of an organization and structure policy of the Peruvian society. We willsee this in the political, social, and cultural ...

This article introduces the colonial temples of Huaura and Checra’s river valleys in the sierra of Lima; a surprising example of Peruvian vernacular architecture with baroque and neo-classical altarpieces, mural paintings and historical furnishing which sit in spectacular natural surroundings. We aim to disseminate their interesting history and show their potential as a tourist attraction in connection with the natural and cultural resources of the area, such as lagoons, peaks, thermal waters, archaeological remains, popular festivals, folklore and local gastronomy. For that we will study these churches from the artistic point of view and suggest some routes which could be easily implemented.

As a professor he used to teach the excellency of the establishment clause in the American Constitution about the relationship betweenthe Churches and the American State. Precisely in the present article he presents this excellency, and studied the impossibility for the European and West Christian Countries, to copy this American way, because the History of the different Christian Countries are, by no doubt, very different, and cannot be compared with the History of USA and its different religion Confessions. Also the conception of Privacy is very different in those countries. In fact, nearly all of the different European Countries use the Public Right of the State in all events of Private life (School, Religion, Taxes, Welfare, etc), which is exactly the opposite way done by USA where Privacy is sacred; and Religion is in the field of privacy, therefore it is incompatible with Public Li...

The objective of this paper is to analyze the new relations between the Church and the Peruvian State because of the changes introduced by the 1979 Political Constitution of Peru. For this purpose, the proposal of the Doctrine of Vatican II on the relations between the Church and the State is examined, which will allow us to highlight the aspects that the Church and the States are renouncing in their interactions. The new aspects introduced by the 1979 Constitution are also examined. In this way, it is concluded that the doctrine of Vatican II is not followed in relations with the State, and that the 1979 Constitution introduces changes with respect to its predecessor, the Political Constitution of the Republic of 1933, which affect this relationship with the Church.

The Second Vatican Council had enormous significance for the present and the immediate future of the life of the Church. The gap between the "modern world" (European, Western) and a Church anchored in the past was too great. John XXIII was aware of the need to "open the windows of the Church" so that the outside air could penetrate.

The interest of religions in communicating in the new virtual environments has led to the emergence in recent years of multimedia initiatives that seek to inform and bring their message to many people. Such is the case of 'The Pope Video', a project of the Pope's Worldwide Prayer Network (Apostleship of Prayer) born in 2016 and supported by Vatican Media, with the purpose of launching the Holy Father's monthly intentions on a global level, through the dissemination of video messages on the web and social networks. The aim of this research is to analyze this project of the Church in the audiovisual media and as a methodology we have carried out a quantitative and qualitative content analysis of the videos (n=75) published between 2016 and 2021, in order to understand its evolution in terms of the themes highlighted, the quality and use of images and sounds, the audiovisual production and ...

The viceregal cities used to have a number of small public spaces attached to churches, which broke the monotony of a generally regular pattern. The two small squares next to the old Juandedian temple in Lima made up a very unusual case in the city and, as time passed, they were the scene for violent historical events that marked Peruvian political life. When it disappeared together with the entire religious edifice, all the memories of its presence were erased, making it necessary to divulge its history for the present and future of society.

The research presented here was carried out within the framework of the cooperation agreement between the National University of La Rioja (Argentina) and the Universitá degli Studi di Firenze (Italy), which was based on the opportunity to carry out, for the first time , a complete metric-three-dimensional survey of the architectural structure of the Cathedral of San Nicolás de Bari, thanks to new scanning technologies. This study has been carried out in order to contribute an exemplary action of synergy between various disciplinary approaches and methods for the creation of an essential database for the planning and improvement of a comprehensive survey and restoration project. The great development of technology applied to the heritage sector has led to the automation of survey systems, offering new questions about the methods of managing data and exploring the most efficient and comp...

This article presents the way religious catholic people get involved in the protection of the ecosystem of the Jaen Vicariate, entrusted to the Company of Jesus. Peasants of the zone, who are migrants from the mountains regions, exploit their new habitat according to their ancestors’ traditions shaped in different context. These agricultural methods are inserted in an enchanted worldview. Religious people to encouragepractices respectful of the environment fight against harmful beliefs and promote a rational and scientific comprehension of the situation, a secularized one. Nonetheless, their initiative is not fully successful. It is very difficult to deal with one aspect of a worldview and change it. Besides, peasants, who often experience great necessities, have assimilated the logic and the expectations of the consumer socie...

The paradigm shift in media and social communications is forcing us to rethinking the role and responsibility of the user. Studies on consumer ethics are relatively recent and have shown little interest in the ethical decision-making processes of media users and consumers. In the side of media ethics, the attention paid to consumers and users of the media has also been scarce. The aim of this article is to identify principles and criteria that may serve as guidelines for a media users’ ethics adapted to the current times and technologies. The reflection starts with a review of the academic literature and the principles, values and norms that can be traced in the documents of the Catholic Social Teaching (CST) on media ethics.
