The text analyzes the concept of natural law, which is based on universal principles that guide human conduct towards the “good”, independently of the provisions of positive law. The author points out that natural law is not a human creation, but a reality discovered in the very essence of the human being, which manifests itself through practical judgments that allow discerning between what is right to be done and what should be avoided. He argues that law transcends epochs and cultures, being inherent to human nature, which is reflected in norms that prohibit murder, theft or deceit. To that extent, it is emphasized that these “duties” are a requirement that emanates from the personal being. The objective of this paper is to analyze the new relations between the Church and the Peruvian State because of the changes introduced by the 1979 Political Constitution of Peru. For this purpose, the proposal of the Doctrine of Vatican II on the relations between the Church and the State is examined, which will allow us to highlight the aspects that the Church and the States are renouncing in their interactions. The new aspects introduced by the 1979 Constitution are also examined. In this way, it is concluded that the doctrine of Vatican II is not followed in relations with the State, and that the 1979 Constitution introduces changes with respect to its predecessor, the Political Constitution of the Republic of 1933, which affect this relationship with the Church.

The objective of this paper is to analyze the new relations between the Church and the Peruvian State because of the changes introduced by the 1979 Political Constitution of Peru. En “El sentido de la Teología en la carrera de Abogado”, Francisco Interdonato S.J., profesor principal de la PUCP, reflexiona sobre el papel de la teología en la formación jurídica y universitaria.
