In its first section, it is acknowledged the current absence of special chapters in most classic works on the War of the Pacific, dedicated to the role of religion. Determina la relación que existe entre los documentos y declaraciones de la Iglesia Católica limeña, con el papel que asumió durante el conflicto armado entre Perú y Chile en el periodo 1879 a 1883. El tipo de investigación que se realizo es básica, por ser descriptiva y explicativa histórica. No es Aplicada, al no realizarse experimento alguno como la elaboración y/o aplicación de encuestas.
