In this research, an artificial neural network model was developed to predict the credit risk of clients in the financial system, surpassing traditional methods in accuracy, sensitivity, and specificity. Using data from Caja Sullana, which included 85 client records with variables such as income, credit history, and age, a cross-sectional non-experimental design was employed. The network, composed of an input layer, a hidden layer, and an output layer, was trained using a scaled conjugate gradient algorithm, standing out for its efficient and simple architecture. The results showed a 100% accuracy in training and testing, and a general accuracy of 98.25%, with outstanding sensitivity and specificity, thus validating the proposed hypotheses. This study demonstrates the capability of neural networks to significantly enhance credit risk evaluation, offering a powerful tool for credit decisi...

The SARS-CoV-2 pandemic had taken the world by surprise since its discovery on December 2019, causing major losses worldwide. In this work, a deep learning model was developed to predict and forecast the daily SARS-CoV-2 cases on the Peruvian regions. The data used belongs to the open covid–19 data set, sourced by the Health Ministry of Peru (MINSA). The data set includes the periods from March 03, 2020 to March 16, 2021. A holdout approach was used, creating a training and validation data splits. Using the validation set, a temporal convolution neural network (TCN) composed by five layers was developed. The model was design to predict a mean tendency alongside with a prediction interval. To find the best hyper parameter configuration, a Bayesian approach was applied over the validation set. The TCN model was trained using the optimal configurati...

In this work, I investigate the effect of some landscape variables (rivers, agricultural lands, anthropic areas and native forest) on the presence patterns of spider monkey, Ateles fusciceps, in the northwestern Ecuador. Geographical records collected in field and others from previous studies were used to conduct this study. Effects of proximity of each variable to presence of A. fusciceps were assessed with Student T tests. The best model and the most important variables were identified using logistic regressions and the Akaike Information Criterion (AIC). The results showed that agricultural lands and anthropic zones were from the primate presence points, suggesting a negative effect on A. fusciceps. I also found that A. fusciceps prefers sites near rivers, this observation has not been reported in previous studies. Two important models were found to predict the presence of A. fuscicep...

Purpose: The aim of this paper is to address a company valuation procedure by explaining the steps that must be followed from an economic-financial perspective. Design/methodology: We employ the study case methodology to fulfill all the procedure stages. Specifically, we analyze the Peruvian cement company “Cementos Pacasmayo”. A 10-year discounted cash flow (DCF) is presented and brought to present value using a discount rate (WACC) composed by the cost of debt and the cost of capital of the company. Findings: We can conclude that the evaluation process should always include the country, industry and company. Practical implications: Our study provides useful implications for management. On the one hand, it is important to highlight the subjectivity to predict some parameters or doing assumptions. On the other hand, it is important to understand and know a good procedure to valuate a...

Loreto's exports have historically been based on activities that exploit natural resources. The purpose of this study is to determine the relationship between exports and gross value added in Loreto, during the period 2017 to 2021, for which a Correlational scope and Non-Experimental design was used, composed of traditional and non-traditional products, and the gross value added, composed of eleven economic activities, calculated at constant prices. From the analysis of exports, the traditional product “Crude oil and derivatives” had the highest concentration during the analysis period, which was US$277.109 million, representing 84.79% of total exports. For its part, the economic activity with the highest concentration is the “Extraction of oil, gas and minerals”, with a contribution of S/ 7,370,567.00, representing 59.33% of the total production of the series studied. Concluding...

Innovation is the key to success in organizations, even though, the introduction of new products is a complex practice regardless of the market where it is sold (Bjorn et al., 2015, p. 252). Between 80-85% of products fail (The Nielsen Company, 2018, p. 3). Despite the studies, the researchers cannot specify an assertive theoretical framework (Al-Jundi et al., 2019, p. 3). The main reason why there is still no effective theoretical basis to predict the purchase intention of innovations is because of the complexity of the consumer and because it varies by industry. Therefore, the objective is to analyze the impact of the degree of the innovative profile on the purchase intention of new packaged food in housewives in Zone 7 of Metropolitan Lima. So that a group of consumers is specified in a respective industry. A high degree of innovative profile in the prospectus was considered to have a...
