In this article the authors aim at putting together the basic opinions and attitudes held by low-income groups regarding the middle classes, placing special emphasis on the underlying social processes. In other words, the authors explore the subjective dimensión of how social classes perceive each other. The method used is based on the utilization of a projective test especially designed for this research project and of a questionnaire answered by 307 sénior high school students, both in Lima and in other provinces. According to the analysis of the results, the authors arrive to an interpetation of the attitudes and beliefs of low-income youth with regard to wealth and its attainment.

The Marcha das Margaridas is a coalition of women and feminism movements, agrarian movements, trade unions, and international organizations that emerged in 2000. Women’s organizations that are part of a rural trade federation lead the process. While its initial agenda included gendered class-based demands for the recognition of women’s work in food production, access to land titles and labour rights, the Marcha das Margaridas progressively incorporated other topics, such as agroecology and food sovereignty. The article addresses three questions: How did food sovereignty enter their agenda? What is the meaning of food sovereignty for them? How can food sovereignty be understood from a (popular) feminist perspective? Based on an analysis of the political documents, we identified five main themes in the discourse of the Marcha das Margaridas on food sovereignty:...

Andean time and space are evidently marked by popular Christian devotion. The ritual calendar of the man of the Andes is made up of Christian festivals that give religious meaning to their daily actions linked to agricultural or livestock life. The churches, built in the most remote places, continue to be a separate space dedicated to sacred worship, and the population continues to recognize the most relevant moments of Christian life as highly significant: baptism, first communion, marriage. Undoubtedly, one of the particularities of the Andean man is his sensitivity towards religion: he is frequently longing for hope, expectant of blessing, eager for reconciliation or desirous of the spirit of thanksgiving with processions, pilgrimages or traditional Catholic rituals. Time and space to ask, give thanks, repent, atone for sins, reconcile with the Creator.

One of the central characteristics of the social change that we are experiencing at the gates of the third millennium has been conceptualized under the term globalization. This is a plurivocal and polysemic term to refer to a complex process by which the diffusion of a new technological paradigm is understood, at the same time as changes in production processes, financial movements, labor markets, organizational and management designs, education , information and communications systems, urban and family lifestyles, consumption patterns, advertising and marketing, knowledge, values and citizen preferences and, therefore, ways of life of societies and people (Tomassini, 1995).

The experience of political violence in Peru generated, among other consequences, a profound gap in the relationship between the history taught and the processes of consolidation of historical memory and identity; being that the school is a public space where memory is built. Its present possibilities and limitations are related to the teaching of the recent and living past. For the purposes of this research, we intend to analyze the contents of the history books that are taught in schools in Peru and the collective memory about the period of political violence in students at public schools in the 5th year of secondary education. Methodologically is a longitudinal study covering the years 2013 - 2020, will make use of a mixed approach, which will combine both the quantitative analysis through the surveys to be applied, as well as qualitative analysis based on in-depth interviews, f...

A concept that grabs violence, conflict and racial discrimination is the idea of “cholo o chola” (people with indigenous ancestry). A group of people who had a direct participation in society were chosen, such as a group of secondary school students. Due to their long process of continuous interrelation and permanent socialization in the classroom, it is possible to analyse and explain how these students observe in school the so-called “cholo o chola” from the main personalities in the world of football, music, as well as in the Peruvian television comic programs. In fact, the reason was to relate social spaces that involve all media, where social actors are graphed in intercultural contexts, which at the same time, are characteristic of our ethnic-cultural diversity, but where also, racial discrimination and socio-cultural exclusion are still present. Fifth year high...

This article is created in the framework of the second-round presidential elections in Peru, from the narrative that has been generated during the political campaign and the reactions that have been seen in the media and on social networks, once that the results of the quick count were known, and they resulted in a slight distance in favor of Pedro Castillo, candidate of Peru Libre political party. The analysis proposed comes from the social imaginaries approach, to locate and try to analyze a series of discourses that have been built on the figure of the candidate of Peru Libre, and that constitutes the reflection of a resistance process that can be interpreted as ‘colonial’, which has also placed the country in a political polarization context, facing our Bicentennial as a independent Republic. Categories such as communist, terrorist, poor and unprepared highlander, and enemy of de...

The aim of this article is to reflect on how the unbalanced relationship between spontaneous popular cultures and mass culture has encouraged, in addition to the globalized and unequal standardization of cultures, a process that leads to an increase in violence between different ethnicities, a phenomenon which is observed more and more frequently in late modern society. Based on this finding, it is believed that the development of strategies that facilitate intercultural communication could be a path that would lead different ethnicities to develop a more balanced cultural exchange. However, to develop an intercultural project that can embrace and disseminate the cultural diversity of different ethnicities, it is necessary to rescue spontaneous cultural narratives, to the detriment of the mass culture introduced by the use of the media.

The relationship between the Croatian massif known as Mount Ucka, Slavic mythology, tourism and popular religiosity in northern Croatia is addressed in this paper. For this, informal interviews and anthropological field observations are carried out on the buttresses and the summit of Vojak Peak, in the Poclón mountain refuge, in the villages of Veprinac and Volosco; and in the sanctuary of Trsat, an important place of pilgrimage and popular Christian devotion, located on a hill near Mount Ucka. In addition, the symbolic construction of the sacred mountain and its importance in strengthening the Croatian identity are analyzed, taking into account the recreation of Slavic mythology through its representation in the tourist brochures of the Opatija Riviera. Also, for comparative purposes for the present investigation, other sacred mountains in Croatia such as Mount Vidova Gora on the islan...

This research emerges impregnated with a deep halo of complexity, which seeks to rethink the work of educational organizations in times of crisis under a hegemonic vision of education and of life itself. It starts from a conception of education as a training activity, permanent, with meaning, transcendental to the current situation of being, according to Balza (2008), an education "that permeates and models the multidimensionality of the human being", therefore that this is conceived in an integral way, as a whole that is nourished by the concurrence and contributions of the sociocultural and socio-pluricultural disciplines, therefore, transdisciplinarity, according to Nicolescu (1996), is to understand the unreality of reality from the unity of knowledge. However, the inter-problematic most felt in this context is directly associated with the teacher as a manager of processes, to mediat...

In order to evaluate the forms of interaction in the main Instagramers from Peru and Colombia, an exploratory analysis of their profiles was carried out on the Instagram audiovisual platform during 2019. For this reason, firstly, the Heepsy tool was used to establish the influencers with greater impact within the platform in both countries and then, through the monitoring tools Fan Page Karma and Social Blade, to determine a set of variables and parameters regarding their interaction. The results show that the audience index is higher for Instagramers from Colombia than for the ones from Peru. In addition, there is a clear trend among digital audiences to value content through likes as a sign of interaction with it, but on the other hand, there is a representative decrease in expressing their impressions with words and comments regarding what they observe; this is also established by the...

The objective of this article is to analyze the participation and mobilization of the popular sectors, the vast majority of which were part of both patriotic and royalist troops in the revolutionary war within the southern-Andean space. From the study of different cases, the aim is to understand the experiences of the war and the degree of identification of these sectors with the political causes at stake during that process. Thus, the reasons why the members of both troops or the summoned militias fought is questioned, as well as the political concepts used in their speeches to identify themselves with the struggle in favor of a given cause and the fees requested to remain in the military corps.
