The aim of this study was to determine the importance of stray dogs by the local governments of Metropolitan Lima and to identify the proposed control plans. The descriptive study involved 32 of the 43 municipalities of Metropolitan Lima that agreed to participate. The survey model carried out by the OIE regarding the control of dog population was used. In general, 90.6% (29) considered stray dogs a problem in their district, uncontrolled reproduction being the most serious problem. In addition, 58.6% (17) indicated that the municipality did not have a plan to address the problem, while 31% (9) had a plan and 10.4% (3) did not but were carrying out activities to address it. Surgical methods (spaying and neutering) were the most mentioned by the authorities to try to control the stray dog population, while euthanasia was only mentioned for cases of terminal illness or aggressiveness. Rega...

Local power may be understood either as a government, shaped on the basis of social relationships and institutions, that adjusts to social structures, or as a series of mechanisms and procedures of symbolic mobilization generating the effect that an order is required for daily coexistence. In a territorialized space, both approaches are complemented and shape the areas where local power operated. This article analyzes local power in the Indian towns of San Juan de Catacaos and San Martín de Sechura (in the coast of Piura), in the context of the making up of the government structures that the colonial regime imposed. The author focuses on the figure of the colonial cacique, on the mechanisms he used to have access to power and to legitimate it, on the interests he mobilized according to his obligations with the colonial regime and with the Indians living in his territory (parciali...

In this article we will study the local well-posedness for a non-linear Cauchy problem associated with the differential equation KdV- Kuramoto-Sivashinsky: in the infinite dimensional spaces (periodic sobolev) H sper. We do this using the theory of C0- semigrupos, main properties of the Fourier transform in H sper, as the inmersions in these spaces and that H s-1per is a Banach algebra, which allows us to justify the presence of the non-linearity .

This article describes the construction and validation of the “Scale of Social Problems in Chile”. The scale was developed considering the main social issues at a national and municipal level. The instrument was validated using quantitative methodology, with a non-experimental cross-sectional design. The participants were 456 residents of the Valparaíso municipality, Chile. Cases were selected using quota sampling to reflect the demographic composition of the region in terms of the sex and age groups found in the municipality. Exploratory factor analysis was conducted using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) V24.0, while confirmatory factor analysis was performed with R console and the Rcmdr interface. These analyses made it possible to establish that the factor structure of the scale differentiates national problems from local ones.

Community-based environmental management (CBEM) is an effective tool for addressing environmental issues with the participation of local communities. The objective of this study was to explore the implementation of a CBEM program to address socio-environmental problems, as well as its challenges and opportunities, as perceived from local knowledge—in this case, that of the rural community of El Arenal in Acapulco, Mexico. Field immersion and exploration were used to strengthen CBEM. Additionally, a series of participatory workshops were held with the community to identify socio-environmental issues. Based on the collected information, a SWOT analysis was conducted to identify scenarios of challenges and opportunities. Strategic management (SM) tools were used to perform this analysis. The results showed a preoperational scope, and the strengths, opportunities, weaknesses, and threats i...

Local rice landraces are vital for preserving agricultural biodiversity, ensuring food and nutrition security, and serving as valuable genetic resources for breeding. However, their cultivation is declining significantly due to various socio-economic, biotic, abiotic, and productivity-related challenges. To promote the cultivation of local rice varieties, it is essential to understand the key factors influencing farmers’ adoption decisions. Identifying the major challenges faced by local rice producers is critical for formulating effective strategies and interventions to support its cultivation. In this context, a study was conducted in the Kapilvastu district of Nepal in 2023, employing purposive sampling to survey 169 farmers—70 cultivating local Kalanamak rice and 99 cultivating improved rice varieties. Among six socioeconomic and production parameters studied, the size of the hou...

In this paper we study the local well-posedness of the initial value problem for a Nutku-Oguz-Burgers system with time dependent coefficients, formed by two Korteweg-de Vries equations coupled through the non-linear terms. The system appears as a model of wave propagation in a shallow channel with variable bottom surface, in which both nonlinear and dispersive effects are relevant. The proof of existence and uniqueness of local solution and the continuous dependence on the initial data of the local solution in Sobolev spaces Hs(R) x Hs(R), s > 3/2, arebased on the works [9] and [17].

The vehicle routing problem is one of the most studied problems in Operations Re-search. Different variants have been treated in the past 50 years and with technological advances, new challenges appear. In this thesis, we introduce a new variation of the VRP appearing in wireless networks. The new characteristic added to this well-know problem is the possibility of pick-up information via wireless transmissions. In the con-text considered here, a unique base station is connected with the outside and a vehicle is responsible for collecting information via wireless connection to the vehicle when it is located in another sufficiently close station. Simultaneous transmissions are permitted. Time of transmission depends on the distance between stations, the amount of infor-mation transmitted, and other physical factors (e.g obstacles along the way, installed equipment). Information to be sent...

In this paper addresses the initial value problem for the Navier-Stokes equations in Rm (m = 2; 3;..) with initial condition in the subspace PLp(Rm) of Lp(Rm), characterized by the null divergence condition. The problem is studied considering its integral formulation, where an argument of successive approximations is used. The existence and uniqueness of the local solution is proven depending on a condition of smallness in the time of existence. On the other hand, the overall result is tested with a small amount of the initial data.
