The author offers a critical examination of the positions which deny the superior value of alphabetic writing, supported by the Classical humanism (linguistic and ethnographically), and in particular by the views of Fr. Acosta on various Indian memory systems. To show by the indigenist position of Fr. Acosta, the testimony of the author and his followers, in particular Inca Garcilaso, is mentioned.

This article presents an outline of the “legal coloniality” following some theoretical lines of Latin American decolonial thought in order to analyze the limits of legal pluralism in the context of the current colonial States. In this regard, we use indigenous law as an analytical model to try to explain the difficulty of achieving an equitable relationship between two different legal systems which coexist in a context of colonial subordination. Questioning the state law beyond the law implies revealing the coloniality of power that underlies the modern trilogy and the foundation of legal monism: State/sovereignty/law.

I attempt here a revision about some methodological problems and research strategies with reference to some of my recent work (2010, 2009a y 2009b, 2008) in intertwined fields of ethnohistory, social history and microhistory. The general chosen procedure to facing challenging and complex documentation, was to use simultaneously various methodologies provided by modern historiography and anthropology. So, we use for example the so-called thick description (Geertz) and the ethnography of history (Sahlins) —with few o almost no use in Andean studies tradition— along with the more «normal» hermeneutic documental procedures and also the indiciary deduction of the microhistory of C. Ginzburg. Slavery was the easiest form to obtain free labor. With certain masquerades, slavery still exist in some places of the Earth today. Its origin is too early. In the Modern Era, slavery was identified with African slavery. Many books have already been written concerning this matter. However, about the Peruvian case, there is not enough specific studies but, also, general evaluations referred to this phenomenon. In this paper, the author wants to summarize and evaluate the importance of this system in Colonial Peru. In this epoch, the slavery not only affected African people but Asiatic, Moorish and Indigenous.

Following the lines of decolonial thought, I suggest that lawyers reproduce patterns of the matrix of colonial power through their actions. In the first part of this article I describe what the decolonial option is, while in the second part I analyze lawyers and law schools paying close attention to the signs of coloniality/modernity within them. As a result, I identify lawyers as the legal guardinas of colonial power and law schools as places that reproduce the logic of modernity/coloniality.

Este estudio trata sobre los tapices andinos coloniales más antiguos que se han conservado y que suelen ser llamados “transicionales” por presentar características técnicas e iconográficas, tanto de la pre conquista como occidentales. La revisión crítica de una fuente histórica fundamental sobre las lenguas indígenas habladas hacia 1600 en el antiguo obispado de Charcas, la llamada Copia de los curatos, combinada con la representación cartográfica de la información que este texto proporciona, permiten una reconstrucción más adecuada y precisa de la dispersión territorial de la lengua puquina en la época colonial temprana. In this work we address proposals for the creation of Inquisition courts by inquisitorial, royal, and ecclesiastical authorities, between the 17th and 18th centuries, due to the immense territorial extension of the Lima court’s jurisdiction, and the problems that derived from it. This study specially focuses on the governorates of Tucumán and Rio de la Plata, as part of the so-called «región platina», a space linking population centers of the colonial urban borderland shared by Portuguese, Castilians, Spanish Creoles, and Portuguese Americans.
