This research was aimed at determining to what extent factors prior to university admission, motivational factors, and institutional experiences explain the academic persistence of students in the University Leveling Term (CIU) at the Simon Bolivar University - Coastal Campus. An explanatory-type quantitative study was proposed, which involved a non-experimental cross-sectional retrospective causal relationship design. The sample consisted of 101 students (50.5% female) with an average age of 17.90 years (SD = 2.37). The study found a significant relationship between some variables explaining academic persistence, which were: a) having a lower orientation toward academic goals; b) a higher score on the maladaptive pattern; c) a higher score in the perception of the Mathematics professor’s evaluation; and d) a higher score in the final performance. El presente trabajo tiene como objetivo de investigación analizar la construcción narrativa y ética de las dos primeras temporadas de la serie Narcos Colombia, según los conceptos docudramatic research y performing of memory, que se desprenden de la teoría de Stephen N. Lipkin y Alan Rosenthal. El presente trabajo de investigación tiene por finalidad dar a conocer algunos de los factores que intervienen en una voladura de control en una operación a tajo abierto, enfocándose en la mejora de los mismos a fin de garantizar una óptima granulometría del material disparado. Para tal efecto se identificará si existe algún beneficio, basándonos en los valores de fragmentación que se obtienen al usar la emulsión denominada Flexigel como explosivo en lugar de las mezclas convencionales como el Heavy ANFO. El objetivo general es mostrar la necesidad de una mirada multidimensional de la realidad. Para ello, cuatro conjuntos de gráficos nos permiten contrastar y complementar algunos de los elementos clásicos en el diagnóstico sobre América Latina durante las últimas décadas. El primero, sobre la brecha con los países ricos, muestra la evolución de largo plazo del PIB per capita y de indicadores básicos de salud y educación, para poner en evidencia que mientras en el primer caso se amplía en los otros dos se reduce. In this article, the author intends to look into the identity of the legality requirement in international investment arbitration. For this purpose, first, the author offers a formulation of the legality requirement. Second, he provides a legal justification of the requirement based on the elements that make it up part of it as well as the rationale of international investment law. Finally, the author points out some consequences that follow the proposed justification. The author uses relevant arbitral awards in order to contrast the justification proposed with the on-going practice of arbitral tribunals, arguing that the legality requirement is an expression of the validity requirement of the investment as an object of protection under international investment law.

This article examines the role of intergroup trust and recognition of past sufferings onintergroup attitudes. We conducted an experiment among Dutch-speaking students in which we manipulated the degree of importance that French-speakers gave to historical episodes of past victimizations in order to test its impact on the attitudes towards the French-speakers. Results show that intergroup attitudes were most favorable among the high-trusting Dutch-speaking participants when they were led to believe that the French- speakers judged important the events where both communities were considered as victims, compared to the conditions where only French-speaking or only Dutch-speaking sufferings were considered important. This suggests some level of intergroup trust is a condition forthe positive effect of shared memories of victimization on attitudes.

In Peru, the awareness of corporate social responsibility (CSR), at least at the level of discourse, occupies a significant space. Therefore, it is extremely important to evaluate its implementation in view of its economic and social reality. Thus, in this paper the state of the art is presented along with some important criticisms of CSR and its broader notion: corporate sustainability (parts I to IV). For this reason, the author throughout the text will explore different definitions of CSR that encompass various mathematical formulations used in economics. Added to this, it will refer to the concepts held by Professor Francisco Durand regarding the different economies in Peru. Then, the discursive model is contrasted with the Peruvian reality to conclude that, as things are, the only model of corporate social responsibility is the Friedmannian one (profitability).

The degree of spatial correlation between the regions shows that there is a contagion effect at the crime level, especially in the peripheral regions of Lima. A positive relationship has been found that progresses from region to region, from district to district, with positive trends and clear dependencies with income levels and population density, especially in the districts located in the cones, confirming that the model can contrast reality and predict future scenarios in terms of crime levels. Although the technology related to information storage is limited, we present an alternative for data collection and some codes for storing large volumes of data, especially those related to the georeferenced positions of high crime areas, which have served to find patterns of regional expansion of criminal acts, monitor them and propose alternatives for improvement.
