The COVID-19 pandemic brought about new challenges for class interaction and for English as a Foreign Language teaching instruction in general, and opened a whole world of opportunities to learn about virtual-mediated instruction and about learning altogether. As a reaction to the new social conditions, alternative spaces, and ways of mediating instruction through the use of technology and digital resources were created and promoted in the quest for teaching and learning. This research examined the perceptions of students and graduates of hybrid doctoral courses regarding course design, teaching and learning activities, virtual educational platforms, interaction, evaluation techniques and overall perception. The researchers used quantitative methodology with a cross-sectional survey design and a self-administered questionnaire with 33 participants. The results revealed high satisfaction with the course design and teaching activities. The participants appreciated the flexibility and accessibility of the virtual educational platform, although they reported occasional technical issues. They highlighted interaction as a crucial factor for the success of the course. The findings suggest that hybrid courses effectively meet the needs of adult learners.

El objetivo fue presentar evidencias de validez y confiabilidad de la Escala de Comunicación Padres-Adolescente de Barnes y Olson (1982) en universitarios de Lima de 16 a 25 años. Participaron 255 estudiantes (162 mujeres) de dos universidades de Lima. Se realizó un análisis factorial exploratorio con el objetivo de evaluar la viabilidad de las estructuras bifactorial y trifactorial de la escala. El análisis factorial exploratorio apoyó la estructura de los dos factores inicialmente propuestos para esta escala (apertura de comunicación y problemas de comunicación). Tanto en la versión de comunicación con el padre como en la de comunicación con la madre se obtuvieron altos valores de alfa de Cronbach (entre .80 y .90). Impression management (IM) is a technique or tactic followed by employees to form favorable perceptions. The current study analyzed the relationship of various facets (Deception, Defensive, Exemplification, Ingratiation, Model behavior, and Self-promotion) of impression management and its effect on global assignment, work-life balance, and career growth. Furthermore, the current study also analyzed the impact of IM on the psychological behavior of IT employees and conceptualized a model using SmartPLS (Partial Least Squares) approach. Questionnaires were distributed to 225 employees (36% female) in a Private Software Company in Chennai, India. Results indicate that the IM facets contribute 51.2% in predicting the individual psychological factor composed of global assignment, work-life balance, and career growth.

Errors in medical practice, associated with inappropriate communication, praxis and other factors have been reported in several studies and it is necessary to analyze them due to the consequences for the patient, the family, the health professional and the institutions; even more so if the final diagnosis is oncologic. The aim of the present article is to report two clinical cases in which misdiagnosis occurs. A review of various clinical documents has been carried out, after authorization of the two patients and a semi-structured interview. Factors that may lead to possible errors during the oncologic diagnostic process and affect the doctor-patient relationship are discussed, such as deficits in the communication process, educational and academic deficits, consultation time and deontological aspects.

Se estudian los factores que acentúan las brechas digitales de las escuelas rurales en el Perú en el contexto de la pandemia del COVID-19. De esa forma, se aborda la educación básica rural antes y durante la pandemia, factores que acentúan las brechas digitales, políticas de inclusión existentes y diversas recomendaciones para reducirlas. Es un estudio cualitativo, analítico-descriptivo, con elementos comparativos entre lo urbano y lo rural, específicamente la región andina del Perú. Las brechas digitales se acentúan por factores de conectividad, dispositivos, apropiación de la tecnología, inadecuada formación docente, entre otros. El estudio evidencia la necesidad de potencializar el binomio conectividad y formación docente para el uso de las tecnologías de la comunicación y de la información y para el diálogo intercultural en los procesos de aprendizaje.

This study points out factors that deepen the digital gaps in rural schools in Peru in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. Thus, basic rural education is addressed before and during the pandemic a few factors that intensify the digital gaps, existing inclusion policies and several recommendations to reduce them. It is a qualitative, analytical-descriptive study, with comparative elements between urban and rural, specifically in the Andean region of Peru. Some factors accentuate the digital gaps, such as connectivity, devices, appropriation of technology, and inadequate teacher training, among others. The study highlights the need to enhance the binomial connectivity and teacher training for the use of communication and information technologies and for intercultural dialogue in the learning processes.

El artículo trata del nivel de compresión de textos en los alumnos de educación primaria considerando elementos tales como la compresión del texto, la velocidad en la lectura y la precisión de lo leído. Se aplicó el método experimental con 200 alumnos del cuarto grado de primaria escogidos aleatoriamente y con criterio probabilístico a quienes se evaluó con el Test de Lectura Oral de Gray-Gort 3; mientras que para medir el rendimiento escolar fue necesario utilizar instrumentos tales como exámenes escritos, orales, evaluación de proyectos educativos y otros. Pese a la penetración y uso de dispositivos móviles entre las audiencias infantiles, la televisión sigue siendo un medio consumido por niños, niñas y adolescentes.
