The Marcha das Margaridas is a coalition of women and feminism movements, agrarian movements, trade unions, and international organizations that emerged in 2000. Women’s organizations that are part of a rural trade federation lead the process. While its initial agenda included gendered class-based demands for the recognition of women’s work in food production, access to land titles and labour rights, the Marcha das Margaridas progressively incorporated other topics, such as agroecology and food sovereignty. The article addresses three questions: How did food sovereignty enter their agenda? What is the meaning of food sovereignty for them? How can food sovereignty be understood from a (popular) feminist perspective? Based on an analysis of the political documents, we identified five main themes in the discourse of the Marcha das Margaridas on food sovereignty:...

The objective of this paper was to translate and carry out the cross-cultural adaptation of Kidcope´s instrument to Portuguese (Brazil). The conceptual and item equivalence, semantic and operational equivalence between the original instrument and the Brazilian version of the Kidcope were performed in this cross-sectional methodological research. The results show a good conceptual and item equivalence, besides semantics between the elements of the original instrument and the translations, especially with reference to the T2 - R2 dyad. Regarding operational equivalence, the children confirmed to instrument as adequate and comprehensible. The study reached the desired goal and the results were satisfactory, noting the possibility of continuing to the next stage, the equivalence of measurement.

The Smiling Brazil (BS) program was created by the federal government of Brazil, as part of its Unified Health System, in 2004. This program provides tens of thousands of oral health teams in basic primary care, establishes care for medium complexity and promotes municipal policies for fluoridation of the water supply and prosthetic oral rehabilitation, through regional dental prosthesis laboratories, among other actions. The National Oral Health Policy (PNSB) and its BS program are recognized as responsible for increasing access to public health services. Approximately 15 years after the implementation of the PNSB, important advances can be observed: exponential increase in the coverage of oral health teams in basic care and a comprehensive health care approach. However, the accomplishments cannot hide the obstacles that still exist. The municipalization of the health system was carried...

Borders are spaces where relations between the local population and the different levels of government, whether national or subnational, are condensed. Therefore, it is relevant to create border areas of peace and sustainable development, based on regional cohesion, social integration, and territoriality, which contributes to the reduction of tensions between countries and consolidates the processes of integration and continuous cooperation. Particularly, the borders of Brazil and Peru have a strategic relevance due to their biodiversity, geographic location, presence of lakes and rivers and because it is a space for the economic development. The reason for developing this article is that Brazil and Peru have a series of border dynamics, whether territorial, social, commercial and economic. The objective of the article is to analyze the border regions between Peru...

This work, conducted at the Núcleo de Antropologia Visual (NAVIS/UFRN), aims to carry out an anthropological research to create an Affective Map of the Rocas neighborhood, located in the East Zone of Natal, in the state of Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil. The affective map, guided by emotions, seeks to open spaces for counter-hegemonic narratives. The choice of the Rocas neighborhood follows previous research by NAVIS, which investigates tensions in the historic neighborhoods of Natal. For this work, we will use methods such as image capture, walks, assemblages, and (re)assemblages of maps. Thus, we position ourselves from knowledge that questions Eurocentric rationality, proposing confrontations to this unique, modern, capitalist, and Western episteme. The project seeks to diversify the ways of sharing results and contribute to a broader understanding of urban and visual experiences.

The text intends to analyze the impact of Brazilian colonial slavery on social relations today. The purpose of the text is to reflect on the reasons why in Brazil, contrary to what happened, for example in Germany after the Nazi regime, a feeling of shame that would led to guilt and reparation was not fostered in face of the genocide of the indigenous and black people. My hypothesis is that the naturalization and normalization of these facts contribute to the permanence of the coloniality of power, that is, to an unequal distribution of power based on a hierarchy between the races, and their effects, structural, institutional and daily racism. The Brazilian has ‘whiteness’ as a goal and despises its non-European origins. This colonization of the imaginary leads to our intellectual and political subordination. As long as the population is not ab...

This paper sets out to identify the main differences and simmilarities between the Stabilization Plans of Argentina, Brazil, and Perú, as well as making some remarks on anti-inflationary policies. The author also analyzes the initial success of these programmes in terms of their handling of inflation and its subsequent regression. It concludes that the greatest and most important potential cost of a stabilization programme can be measured in terms of its impact on the economic activity, and the levels of employment that it genders. Heterodox plans have not had these costs while achieving a "relative stabilization", but have. on the contrary, managed to increase production. Contrarily, the orthodox alternative tums out to be very costly in the case ofrebellious inflation, since it does not act directly over the inertia.

This paper focuses on two cases corresponding to parties and candidates situated more to the right than usual and, therefore, described as far right. These cases are Jair Bolsonaro, former candidate of the Social Liberal Party and current president of Brazil after winning in the second round of the general elections of October 7, 2018 with 55.1% of the votes; and Vox, the party which achieved parliamentary representation in Spain for the first time after the general elections of April 28, 2019 and is currently the third parliamentary force with 15, 09 % of the votes and 52 seats. For both, we propose to study the use of anti-feminist political discourse as an electoral tool. In spite of the differences in the electoral systems and in the institutional designs of both countries - one presidential and the other parliamentary - both cases share the fact that the candidates have managed to co...

Recently, Brazil has undergone decentralization processes that could have strengthened the local level in democratic terms. Notwithstanding, the results of these processes were not con-sensual, and corruption persisted as a feature of the Brazilian local level. This paper focuses on the corrupt conduct of municipal public officials who deal with fe- deral funds transferred by the central government. The information collected is part of a profile of corruption in the cities monitored by the federal Executive, revealing both how this phenomenon is distributed in terms of areas and which possible factors can explain the occurrence of corrup- tion in the Brazilian local governments. This paper deals with corruption in the municipalities of Minas Gerais - one of the 26 Brazilian states - from a conception of corruption as the misuse offunds by the political system. The argument focuses on ...

This study seeks to analyze the path of the methods used by Spanish teachers in Brazil, from their first mandatory appearance in the curricula, in 1942, to the present day, with the advancement of the Internet and Information and Communication Technologies, in order to understand the relationship between political and economic events and the history of education and curriculum. We seek to understand the reasons that led the Brazilian State to make the study of that language mandatory and reflect on the interference of historical development in the way this foreign language is taught, studying each of the applied teaching methods.

Reports of filarial nematodes in wild birds are scarce in South America, particularly in the Amazon region. We analyzed the organs in the thoracic and abdominal cavities of 34 wild birds belonging to 12 different species of the order Passeriformes in the Periurban areas of Para State. Adult filariae was observed in 3/34 (9%) birds, located in the abdominal cavity of hosts. The morphological and morphometric characteristics of the filarial nematodes were consistent with the taxonomic classification of Aproctella stoddardi Cram, 1931, making this the first report of this species in the Amazon region in northern Brazil. Due to the observed migration of other genera of filariae, Aproctella Cram, 1931 may have the ability to infection at other sites, such as the liver, heart, lung, and brain. In addition, it is necessary to expand the records of the presence of filariae in birds of the region...

Atmospheric particles (PM10 and PM2.5) are responsible for serious problems in human health. Therefore, this study determined the spatial variation of the concentration of particulate matter in the department of Junin, as in the Brazilian Amazon for the period 2021. The data obtained were analyzed using the low-cost PA-II Purpleair sensor, to measurements of particulate matter (PM1, PM2.5 and PM10) at a temporal resolution of 1 min. Likewise, maximum average values of concentrations of particulate material less than 1um, 2.5um and 10um were obtained, which can reach values of 40, 49, 55 μg/m3, respectively. It is concluded that the high values slightly exceed the environmental quality standards of Peru.
