In the present work a review of the new multivariate techniques and why they appear especiallysuited to the personality research is presented. Emerging models of personality  and advances in the measurement  of personality and psychopathology suggest that research in this field has ente red a stage of advanced development. The past two decades have shown importan! developments in statistics and measurement. Refinement of multivariate statistics has been especially importan! in personality assessment because of the complexity of relations among personality variables. Multivariate procedures provide the opportunity  to examine the complexity  of these interactions by providing methods of analysis for multiple variables. On the other hand, structural equation modeling and multivariate techniques for analyzing categorical variables have been developed. Multidimensional  scalin...

The sensory preference (sp) and shelf life of sensory acceptability (SLSA) of canned artichoke hearts were modeled using fuzzy logic (FL) and accelerated testing. The artichoke hearts were marinated in oil of sacha inchi (Plukenetia volubilis), soybean (Glycine max) and olive (Olea europea); and evaluated using a Ranking test with a semi-trained panel, to identify the best preference both for flavor (f) and limpidity (l). We evaluated a global sp through intersection (AND) and union (OR) fuzzy operations of f and l, using functions of triangular membership with the Mamdani method for defuzzificacion through 25 linguistic rules. The intersection showed the best modeling performance, with the highest sp value at 3.30 for the treatment with sacha inchi (50%), olive (25%) and soybean (25%) (p << 0.05) oil, which was subjected to accelerated testing at 37 °C, 49 °C, 55 °C and evaluat...

Purpose: This paper aims to present a literature review of the most recent optimisation methods applied to Credit Scoring Models (CSMs). Design/methodology/approach: The research methodology employed technical procedures based on bibliographic and exploratory analyses. A traditional investigation was carried out using the Scopus, ScienceDirect and Web of Science databases. The papers selection and classification took place in three steps considering only studies in English language and published in electronic journals (from 2008 to 2022). The investigation led up to the selection of 46 publications (10 presenting literature reviews and 36 proposing CSMs). Findings: The findings showed that CSMs are usually formulated using Financial Analysis, Machine Learning, Statistical Techniques, Operational Research and Data Mining Algorithms. The main databases used by the researchers were banks an...

It is precisely the lack of consensus in the civil doctrine, which mostly assimilates interests as ‘civil fruits of capital’, which drew our attention to the study of the latest contributions of economic doctrine. In this work, through the dogmatic method, limited to a brief analysis for publication reasons, we intend to identify the meeting points between economic and legal doctrine about the concepts of interest and capital. Then, we will show some of the problems presented by the distinction between compensatory and moratorium interest in the peruvian Civil Code. Finally, we will conclude that the money-rate of interest is the one that must be applied to the payment for the disposition of the money capital whose determination obeys the rules of the free market.

Morris water maze (MWM) test is widely used to evaluate the learning and memory deficits in rodents. Image processing and pattern recognition can be used to analyse videos and recognize automatically the tracking in MWM. There are several commercial and free access software that allows analyzing the behavioral tasks although they also have limitations such as automation, cost, user intervention among other things. The aim of this paper was to develop a new image processing technique to automatically analyse the track of the rat in the MWM, which we called RatsTrack. The MWM test was performed with an animal model for Alzheimer, and the videos were recorded to measure the distance, time, and speed. The segmentation method based on the projection of the video frames was made for pool identification, eliminating the rat, while conserving the shape of the pool. Then, the Hough transformation...

The objective of this work is to develop a method of Systems Identification applied to the gas mixer in the neonatal incubator BAN, with the aim of finding a mathematical model that describes its dynamics to implement later a controller. The method considered the conduct of an identification nonparametric which was to excite the entrance to the mixer with signals generated by a computer to determine basic information but valuable. Then, the parametric identification was made consisting of excite the entrance to the mixer with a pseudo-random binary signal to obtain the data matrix with which the coefficients were obtained model ARX. The validation and cross correlation conducted showed the effectiveness of the method. Based on the survey results mixer, it is concluded that the subsystem Pipeline Oxygen is the fourth order considering actuators mechanically coupled and transmitter and sub...

Original abstract: This paper presents a new and easily repeatable method for assessing the susceptibility of glacial lakes to outburst floods (GLOFs) within the Peruvian region of the Cordillera Blanca. The presented method was designed to: (a) be repeatable (from the point of view of the demands on input data), (b) be reproducible (to provide an instructive guide for different assessors), (c) provide multiple results for different GLOF scenarios and (d) be regionally focused on the lakes of the Cordillera Blanca. Based on the input data gained from remotely sensed images and digital terrain models/topographical maps, the susceptibility of glacial lakes to outburst floods is assessed using a combination of decision trees for clarity and numerical calculation for repeatability and reproducibility. A total of seventeen assessed characteristics are used, of which seven have not been used i...

The EduBPMN method contains a set of transformation rules that allow the generation of Graphical User Interfaces (GUIs) from a BPMN model complemented by the UML class diagram. The article proposes new rules for the EduBPMN method based on BPMN primitives and operations of the UML classes. These rules can generate design alternatives for GUIs, each of which has been proposed to be represented by a stereotype. As a result of this work, four new rules and eight new stereotypes have been proposed to extend the EduBPMN method. For a better understanding of the contribution, it has been applied to an illustrative example of a project.

The heart of the grid is the power transformer and it is associated to all the electrical chain for distribution, transmission and generation field. Usually the evaluation of the remaining life and condition is based on Furan analysis or dissolved gas analysis (DGA); however, both requires oil samples; in a zero downtime policy, the continuous evaluation requires an additional equipment as online DGA equipment. Due to this limitation, the alternative is the evaluation of the “hot-spot temperature” (HST) in the transformers, with the sensors available in the oil, and winding; but an online evaluation has not been considered in the international standards as IEC 60076-7. So, this paper develops the mathematical model, algorithms and evaluates in a real case study, an optional method to obtain the HST and its impacts in the remaining life. This methodology is applied to three phase tran...

Objective: To validate a virtual reality (VR) model designed for neuroanatomy learning by evaluating its impact in terms of realism, usefulness, practicality, enjoyment, and recommendation. Materials and methods: A descriptive, instrument-validation study was conducted to assess the model through expert judgment in the field of neuroscience. Forty-two professionals in neurology, neurosurgery, and psychiatry participated in the study. The system was rated for realism, usefulness, practicality, enjoyment, and recommendation using a structured 13-item questionnaire based on a five-point Likert scale. The VR model, developed through advanced photogrammetry, enabled interactive manipulation of three-dimensional (3D) brain structures. Participants employed VR headsets and hand controllers to explore, in detail, the anatomical and functional relationships within the brain. Results: Participants...

Recurrent flooding in the mining works, deficiencies in the operation of pumps, unforeseen stoppages, and lack of water availability in the processes, affect the operations in the subway mine. The traditional solution adopted is to wait for maintenance times for its post evacuation, generating stoppages, consumption of water from the wells and inefficiency in the daily water demand. Therefore, this article presents a new approach that will expand the traditional methods by introducing a prediction model using probabilistic methods. This approach will allow the design of an optimal water distribution system, the efficient control in the maintenance and covering of the recirculated water demand inside the mine. Variables describing problems related to pump flow, pressure zoning and the type of pump distribution, either in series or in parallel in the pumping system, will be determined. Als...
