Myxomas are frequent cardiac tumors that are mostly located in the left atrium. Their signs and symptoms are very varied and nonspecific, and depend on their behavior. We report the case of a 41-year-old female patient with a disease period of approximately 3 months, and a clinical picture suggesting heart failure characterized by respiratory difficulty at rest, chest pain, general malaise and edema on lower limbs. The EKG suggested left atrial growth, where transthoracic echocardiography was a key test for the diagnosis of a myxoma filling the entire left atrium, which was later excised by surgery and confirmed by pathological anatomy.

Objective: To validate a virtual reality (VR) model designed for neuroanatomy learning by evaluating its impact in terms of realism, usefulness, practicality, enjoyment, and recommendation. Materials and methods: A descriptive, instrument-validation study was conducted to assess the model through expert judgment in the field of neuroscience. Forty-two professionals in neurology, neurosurgery, and psychiatry participated in the study. The system was rated for realism, usefulness, practicality, enjoyment, and recommendation using a structured 13-item questionnaire based on a five-point Likert scale. The VR model, developed through advanced photogrammetry, enabled interactive manipulation of three-dimensional (3D) brain structures. Participants employed VR headsets and hand controllers to explore, in detail, the anatomical and functional relationships within the brain. Results: Participants...

Background. ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI), is an important cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide, and myocardial reperfusion, when adequate, reduces the complications of this entity. The aim of the study was to describe the clinical and treatment characteristics of STEMI in Peru and the relationship of successful reperfusion with in-hospital adverse events. Materials and methods. Prospective, multicenter cohort of STEMI patients attended during 2020 in public hospitals in Peru. We evaluated the clinical, therapeutic characteristics and in-hospital adverse events, also the relationship between successful reperfusion and adverse events. Results. A total of 374 patients were included, 69.5% in Lima and Callao. Fibrinolysis was used in 37% of cases (pharmacoinvasive 26% and alone lysis 11%), primary angioplasty with < 12 hours of evolution in 20%, late ang...
