OBJECTIVES: To establish of bronchiectasis and functional limitation frequency in patients with sequelae of pulmonary tuberculosis. MATERIAL AND METHODS: We assessed ten patients with history of pulmonary tuberculosis (one single episode) through standard radiological chest films, conventional computarized tomography (CT), bronchofibroscopy (BFC) and spirometry (SP). RESULTS: The radiological examination of the chest suguested that 50% of the patients had bronchiectasis (Gudbjerg’s criteria), confirmed CT in 90% and BFC in 100%. Forty percent of the patients had mild functional restriction, 40% moderate functional restriction and in 20% the SP was normal. CONCLUSIONS: Pulmonary tuberculosis yields bronchiectasis in almost all patients (90% TC, 100% BFC) and generates functional limitation in 80% of the cases.

This paper analyzes and employs two versions of the Functional Central Limit Theorem within the framework of a unit root with a structural break. Initial attention is focused on the probabilistic structure of the time series to be considered. Later, attention is placed on the asymptotic theory for nonstationary time series proposed by Phillips (1987a), which is applied by Perron (1989) to study the e¤ects of an (assumed) exogenous structural break on the power of the augmented Dickey- Fuller test and by Zivot and Andrews (1992) to criticize the exogeneity assumption and propose a method for estimating an endogenous breakpoint. A systematic method for dealing with e¢ ciency issues is introduced by Perron and Rodríguez (2003), which extends the Generalized Least Squares detrending approach due to Elliott, Rothenberg, and Stock (1996).

In a previous paper, the authors showed that in a reflexive Banach space the lower limit of a sequence of maximal monotone operators is always representable by a convex function. The present paper gives precisions to the latter result by demonstrating the continuity of the representation with respect to the epi-convergence of the representative functions, and the stability of the class of maximal monotone operators with respect to the Mosco-convergence of their representative functions.

The application of different unit root statistics is by now a standard practice in empirical work. Even when it is a practical issue, these statistics have complex nonstandard distributions depending on functionals of certain stochastic processes, and their derivations represent a barrier even for many theoretical econometricians. These derivations are based on rigorous and fundamental statistical tools which are not (very) well known by standard econometricians. Interrelationships between two species are a basic theme in Population Dynamics, particularly the interaction between predators and their prey. This importance is due to the fact that it allows a deeper understanding of the behavior of complex food webs. In this paper we extend the analysis of a modified Leslie-Gower predator-prey model by assuming that the functional response is sigmoid or Holling type III and the predator have an alternative food. We show that the system representing the model has up to three positive equilibrium points; we establish conditions to determine the nature of each equilibrium point. In addition, we show the existence of different types of bifurcations, including those of Hopf and the homoclinic. The analytical results are discussed from an ecological perspective.

This paper deals with a continuous-time predator-prey model of Leslie-Gower type considering the use of a physical refuge by a fraction of the prey population. The fraction of hidden prey is assumed to be dependent on the presence of predators in the environment. The conditions for the existence of equilibrium points and their local stability are established. In particular, it is shown that the point (0; 0) has a great importance in the dynamics of the model, since it determines a separating curve Σ that divides the behavior of the trajectories. Those trajectories that are above this curve have as their w- limit the point (0; 0), so the extinction of both populations may be possible depending on the initial conditions.

The information and communication technologies applied in labor relations have a series of constitutional implications on the limits of the use of the power of management, of which there have been different pronouncements, hence the academic interest. In order to develop this topic, we have resorted to the doctrine and, from a practical point of view to the Constitutional Court Rulings and Supreme Court Cassations. The article then deals with a brief introduction, followed by some general concepts on the power of direction, which is broken down into three powers: Regulatory Power, Supervisory Power and Sanctioning Power, including in each section the analysis and notes to the various case law cases.

This research concerns with analysis of a class of modified predator- prey type Leslie-Gower models. The model is described by an autonomous nonlinear ordinary differential equation system. The functional response of predators is Holling IV type or non-monotone, and the growth of prey is affected by the Allee effect. An important aspect is the study of the point (0, 0) since it has a strong influence on the behavior of the system being essential for the existence and extinction of both species, although the proposed system is not define there.

Using the database of the National Survey of Homes produced by the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics of Peru, the income limit was obtained by estimating the modified Engel curve with two concavities, using the Ordinary Least Squares method; and through a Probit model, the factors influencing the state of food insecurity of rural families were identified.
