The research objective is to determine the specific features of the influence of self-determination on the transformation of the body self-image in the self-awareness of people with cerebrospinal injuries. The study involved 2,482 people: 682 subjects (18 to 40 years old) with an injury sustained in a period of up to 2 years; 811 subjects (18-40 years old) with an injury sustained in a period of 2-5 years; 989 subjects (18-40 years old) with an injury sustained in a period of over 5 years. The study of the body self-image was carried out with the proprietary methodology of MSBSI (multidimensional study of the body self-image) and the BIQLI questionnaire by T.F. Cash. The dynamics of the body self-image in individuals within different post-injury periods has been determined. The strong correlations between the features of the body self-image and the development level of a person's self-de...

Digital Image Processing (DIP) books teach algorithms to digitally operate on images and include some figures to show the effects of those mathematical tools. In this report the creation of Imagery, a Virtual Laboratory for computer-assisted education (teaching and learning) of DIP is reported. Imagery can be used in the classroom, in the laboratory or at home. This software was developed to be used as a DIP laboratory, allowing the user to experiment with DIP algorithms, enabling him to see their effects on his own images. In the classroom Imagery helps the teacher in the exposition of the DIP topics he is covering; in the laboratory, Imagery can be used to carry out experiments supporting the topics covered in class; at home, this Virtual Lab can be used by the student to practice and thus reinforce the knowledge acquired in class. This software may also be used by the independent stud...

Having completed two field seasons using the computational photography technique called Reflectance Transformation Imaging (RTI) in the study of quilcas or rock art sites in Peru, the authors have been able to consider and analyze important information which is usually overlooked in the study of this material, such as the manufacturing techniques used and the state of conservation of rock art panels. This allowed the authors to propose new methodological standards for the documentation of rock art and consider new approaches for its scientific study.Using RTI as part of the documentation process, the present article compares two rock art sites, Checta and X02, in the central coast and the south coast respectively. The results of this comparative analysis, which included a sample from each site, demonstrate that RTI is a useful tool for the scientific investigation of rock art in Peru, re...

This article describes the fundamentals of digital image digital processing using a free-access, web user interface called Octave-Online. This interface is part of the GNU operating system software applications, as well as it is known as the equivalent of Matlab in free versión; for this reason, this tool was chosen in order to give a practical approach to the use of ten basic techniques of spatial processing of digital images. To do this, we started by collecting 8 files with image contents in JPG and with different characteristics such as high and low contrast, high and low frequency, shades of gray, and intensity of colors, to put the proposed processing techniques into practice. Subsequently, some guidelines were provided for access, upload of JPG files, creation of * .m extension files, and knowledge of certain tools offered by the Octave-Online web user in...

Style transfer is a natural language processing generation task, it consists of substituting one given writing style for another one. In this work, we seek to perform informal-to-formal style transfers in the English language by using a style transfer model that takes advantage of the GPT-2. This process is shown in our web interface where the user input a informal message by text or voice. Our target audience are students and professionals in the need to improve the quality of their work by formalizing their texts. A style transfer is considered successful when the original semantic meaning of the message is preserved after the independent style has been replaced with a formal one with a high degree of grammatical correctness. This task is hindered by the scarcity of training and evaluation datasets alongside the lack of metrics. To accomplish this task, we opted to utilize OpenAI’s G...

For social robots, knowledge regarding human emotional states is an essential part of adapting their behavior or associating emotions to other entities. Robots gather the information from which emotion detection is processed via different media, such as text, speech, images, or videos. The multimedia content is then properly processed to recognize emotions/sentiments, for example, by analyzing faces and postures in images/videos based on machine learning techniques or by converting speech into text to perform emotion detection with natural language processing (NLP) techniques. Keeping this information in semantic repositories offers a wide range of possibilities for implementing smart applications. We propose a framework to allow social robots to detect emotions and to store this information in a semantic repository, based on EMONTO (an EMotion ONTOlogy), and in the first figure or table...

This paper shows that it is possible to estimate, from a single interferogram image, the error of the concave shape for an optically polished surface that will be used as a mirror in a reflecting telescope. In the Optics Laboratory of the PUCP, a Twyman-Green interferometer has been implemented; surface images with overlapping interference fringes known as interferograms are acquired. Algorithms based on Fourier transform allows the reconstruction of the surface shape and its deviation from ideal concave shape. Images were evaluated for different numbers of interference fringes in the same surface; in each case, a single image was necessary to determine surface error with the added advantage of not having contact with the surface.

In the context of virtual communication systems, the new rationale of social participation and the mechanisms used for the appropriation of the resources, contents and meanings that are broadcast through telematic networks are analyzed here from a political anthropology viewpoint. A case study is used in this paper to highlight how a globalized protest is developed against the presentation of a South American soap opera, La Tormenta (The Storm), which was broadcast on the Internet. Users’ capacity for action to convert the Network into ameans of organization and critique and collectively react against the power of the media is analyzed here. This political action went beyond the virtual field to the real world, thus allowing the recognition of rights. This uprise in the network of consumers of cultural products has contributed to transform conventional mechanisms of citizen participati...

In his book Spectres of Marx, Jacques Derrida puts forth the term hauntology [hantologie] as an epistemic turn dedicated to thinking about the ways in which technology materialises memory that stems from the premise that nothing enjoys a purely positive existence, and that, as music critic Mark Fisher reminds us in his reflections on depression, everything that exists is possible only on the basis of a series of absences that precede it, surround it, and allow it to possess coherence and intelligibility. This article presents the concept of spectropolitics in order to observe how certain events of late capitalism and financial abstractions reverberate in the collective psyche and transform into spectral apparitions. Far from an understanding of the obscurantist spectre as something real, we understand its presence as a sign or a metaphor of the vision that acts as a clarifying figure wit...

This paper presents a noise reduction method for electrocardiographic (ECG) signals with real-time application. The method was evaluated using digitized signals with resolutions of 14, 16, and 24 bits, durations ranging from 30 to 60 seconds, and a sampling frequency of 1000 Hz. Prior to its application, power line interference (220V/60Hz) is attenuated if present. The approach is based on signal decomposition via the Stationary Wavelet Transform (SWT), analyzing 10 detail levels and 10 approximation levels. It was identified that noise is primarily concentrated in the first four levels, occasionally extending to the fifth. To differentiate between useful signal and noise, histograms of the detail coefficients were analyzed, and key metrics such as kurtosis, relative wavelet energy (RWE), and standard deviation were computed to establish adaptive thresholds for effective noise removal. T...

ABSTRACT Diabetic retinopathy is a leading cause of vision loss in developed countries. Regular diabetic retinal eye screenings are needed to detect early signs of retinopathy, so that appropriate treatments can be rendered to prevent blindness. Digital imaging is becoming available as a means of screening for diabetic retinopathy. However, with the large number of patients undergoing screenings, medical professionals require a tremendous amount of time and effort in order to analyse and diagnose the fundus photo-graphs, the treatment is done on a digital image, to obtain results as complex as recognizing patterns or as simple as enhancing con-tours, may involve filtering, transformations of gray levels, based on histogram processing, describing, between others. The design of a teaching tool to facilitate image processing, allowing access to each of the steps involved in the system, ensu...

The main features of the XXI century Russian society have been formed due to social and psychological changes, which led to a global transformation of the state system. Modern world faces the problem of developing a new policy of state power that will be based on the principles of consensus (reconciliation of all contentious and conflicting issues in the process of developing a solution that is reached through discussion and consultation), society and open partnership. The reason for this global upheaval is that the pace of change in the relationship between the state (government) and society itself depends on the open-ended policy that is now key. The image of a civil servant is similar to a construction that can be replaced, strengthened, re-mounted, modified, etc., and most importantly, that it needs serious work. The perception of the image exists and changes not only in the consciou...

The evaluation of presence and origin of ground-ice in the non-glaciated peripheral areas of Nevado Corpuna can contribute to a more refined estimation of its real extent, as well as of the ongoing and recent transformation processes (i.e. permafrost aggradation/degradation). We carried out GPR surveys in sectors immediately outside the glacial tongues which diverge from the glaciated area, both on rock glaciers and debris-covered glaciers. The data acquisition was made with an unshielded antenna operating at a central frequency of 25 MHz, and according longitudinal and cross profiles. We defined a processing sequence particularly effective in removing in air-reflections generated by isolated blocks on the surface, and the numerous point-source diffractions. The signal-to-noise ratio consents a data imaging interpretable up to 25-30 m of depth, according to the estimated velocity of GPR ...
