Confronted with the challenges of the globalized world, recent research suggests that identification with humanity has socio-affective roots and is driven by the celebration of collective rituals that promote benevolence and universalism. This paper analyzes the relation of a self-transcendent emotion (i.e., Awe) lived in local collective meetings with human identity. We conducted a across-sectional study in Mexico and the Basque Country (N = 656), and the results of structural equation modelling shows that this emotion increases the identification with humanity, well-being (directly) and prosocial behavior (indirectly). Further, the intensity of this emotion also predicted the perception of emotional synchrony while controlling for more stable and trait-alike variables. Following Durkheim, the emotional processes experienced in collective events encourage the development of shared ident...

Debris flows are geophysical phenomena, caused by torrential rain, which occur in mountainous areas, characterized by the detachment of slope and riverbed materials and their consequent dislodge through watersheds and streams. Debris flows usually carry sludge, water and rocks, and can destroy everything in their path. On February 8th, 2019, an event of this type occurred and destroyed Mirave’s community in Peru, which was located in the areas of transport and deposition of debris flows. This research presents the modeling and numerical simulation to reproduce the transport and deposition processes of the debris flow that occurred in Mirave. The initiation process of the debris flow in streams was represented by hydrographs obtained from the estimated rain runoff volumes and solid materials found at each evaluated micro watershed. The numerical simulation results show acceptable result...

Errors in medical practice, associated with inappropriate communication, praxis and other factors have been reported in several studies and it is necessary to analyze them due to the consequences for the patient, the family, the health professional and the institutions; even more so if the final diagnosis is oncologic. The aim of the present article is to report two clinical cases in which misdiagnosis occurs. A review of various clinical documents has been carried out, after authorization of the two patients and a semi-structured interview. Factors that may lead to possible errors during the oncologic diagnostic process and affect the doctor-patient relationship are discussed, such as deficits in the communication process, educational and academic deficits, consultation time and deontological aspects.

This article elucidates the pedagogical trajectories explored during a session of the course "Dance Training Cycle - Dialogues between Dance and the São Paulo State Curriculum", designed to train Brazilian art educators employed within the São Paulo State Public Education Network. The event addressed both artistic and educational paths presented in the third meeting of the Cycle, entitled "Dances in Afro-Brazilian History and Culture", which proposed a work with the topics of dance language and creative processes as a teaching methodology that involves the appreciation of Afro-referenced dance knowledge with memory, through contact with Afro-Brazilian corporealities and oralities, referred to as Afro-referenced BodyOralities. This training provided a glimpse into the pedagogical dance proposal known as Dança Terreira. The outcomes of this process are disseminated through the productio...

Benchmarking is “the systematic process of investigating, identifying, comparing and learning from the best practices of other organizations, whether they are in the same sector or not. Orderly analyzing the set of factors that affect their success, learning from their achievements and applying them in our own improvement processes” (Manene, 2011). This methodological proposal has been applied in the present study. A SWOT analysis has been carried out and then internal/external improvement differences have been sought based on comparative evaluations that focus on the weak points found to proceed to possible areas forimprovement. Allthis, within theframework of the internship in“training in research management” (UNDAC, 2017). This academic experience has been carried out from August 28 to September 01, 2017 at the Universidad Pedagógica Nacional de Bogotá - Colombia. In this ev...

The following paper aims to exThe following paper aims to explain the processes of production and interpretation of utterances in human communication from the point of view of Sperber and Wilson’s Relevance Theory. Through the qualitative approach and the explanatory method, the paper exposes a set of approaches based on the ostensive-inferential events of textual interpretation applied to conventional and non-conventional acts of language with emphasis on the pragmatic view of discourse that prioritizes the contextual effect of the phenomenon of communication through overt and assumed acts within linguistic interaction. Thus, on a representative sample of fifty-seven texts contained in the Tradiciones de doña Clorinda Matto de Turner, the analysis of the levels of discourse interpretation was carried out by resorting to the complex functioning of the cognitive processes that regulate...

This article reviews and synthesizes 10 free-recall studies on collective memory carried out in Latin America, Europe, and Palestine. Results show the high prevalence of the topics of politics, collective violence and warfare, but around 50% of recalled events were appraised as positives, disconfirming a negative bias in collective memory. However, in Palestine most of the events were entirely or partially negative, reflecting country’s conflictual situation. The analyzed studies confirm a partial socio-centrism: in Latin America and Palestine most events were national. A meta-analysis confirms a generational effect in 24/100 historical events. Negative historical events were related to low social wellbeing in Palestine. Results are discussed in the framework of collective memory processes and social representations of history.

In his book Spectres of Marx, Jacques Derrida puts forth the term hauntology [hantologie] as an epistemic turn dedicated to thinking about the ways in which technology materialises memory that stems from the premise that nothing enjoys a purely positive existence, and that, as music critic Mark Fisher reminds us in his reflections on depression, everything that exists is possible only on the basis of a series of absences that precede it, surround it, and allow it to possess coherence and intelligibility. This article presents the concept of spectropolitics in order to observe how certain events of late capitalism and financial abstractions reverberate in the collective psyche and transform into spectral apparitions. Far from an understanding of the obscurantist spectre as something real, we understand its presence as a sign or a metaphor of the vision that acts as a clarifying figure wit...

In recent times, an unprecedented event in contemporary history has disrupted social systems, exposing vulnerabilities in our educational system, mainly in economically disadvantaged areas. The covid- 19 arrived in an untimely manner and forced to make resounding changes in the way the teaching-learning process has been developing. Unesco (2020) reports that the pandemic has affected "1.6 billion students in more than 190 countries on all continents. School and other educational closures have affected 94% of students worldwide, a figure that rises to 99% in low- and lower-middle-income countries."
