Lima suffers from a high crime rate, but one that is heterogeneously distributed throughout its districts. However, little is known about one of the basic questions regarding crime in the city: what causes crime among and across these districts? We constructed a data pool consisting of six years of data from the Encuesta Nacional de Programas Estratégicos (2010-2016) in order to obtain a representative sample for 35 districts in Lima (N=53,787). This allowed us to respond to the study’s two main objectives: (1) analyze the extent of the heterogeneity of crime (and its cau-ses) among Lima’s districts (cluster analysis) and (2) identify the drivers that cause certain districts to have higher crime rates than others (multilevel modeling). Canine dermatitis is one of the most common diagnoses in daily veterinary practice and aff ects a large number of thedog population. Th is research determined the type of dermatitis that occurred most often in daily consultations in threeVeterinary Clinics of Mirafl ores district, Lima, Peru. For this, we collected data from clinical histories from 2004 to 2014of dogs attended in this district. We analyzed and compared the sex, age and race of the animal along with the presence ofdermatitis. Out of 5968 medical histories, 1584 (26.54%) were positive for dermatitis. According to our data the highestnumber of cases reported in the classifi cation was dermatitis due to infectious agents with a total of 1144 cases (72.22%).Secondly, immunological dermatitis was found in 200 cases (12.62%) and, thirdly, there was allergic dermatitis seen in188 cases (11.86%). The objective of the present epidemiological study was to determine the prevalence of brucellosis in raised goats under a barn-feeding system in the districts of San Vicente, Nuevo Imperial and San Luis, Cañete Province, Lima. Blood samples were collected from 385 goats of three or more months of age, not vaccinated against caprine brucellosis and belonging to 21 herds. Results showed four sero-positive goats to the Rose Bengal test and only one to the Complement Fixation test. The prevalence of caprine brucellosis was estimated at 0.26 ± 0.04%. This low prevalence could be due to the positive effect of the Control and Eradication Program of Caprine Brucellosis conducted by the Peruvian Ministry of Health and the National Service of Agrarian Health (SENASA) since the year 2000 in the province of Cañete.

This work has the goal of designing a system to treat solid municipal wastes by recycling and final disposition in a sanitary filling field. Studies of handling solid wastes in the northem part of Lima, determine a rate of treatment of 800 TM/day. The filling field will be located near the Pan American high way, around the 38,700 Km in the district of Puente Piedra, taking around 100 hectares of field. Studies on climatological, geophysical, geodinamic and social impacts, determine that the environmental impact on the ecosystem will be minimal. Finally, the useful lile of the facility is estimated in 45 year at a total final deposition cost of US$2,60 /TM.

MATERIALS AND METHODS: In 2002, 92 Comas district 15 to 24 year-old youngsters were interviewed by a semi-structured questionnaire. RESULTS: Half of the youngsters having sexual relations used some type of contraception, having received information mainly from their teachers and the family; 75% of the youngsters did not attend a health establishment, but 11% had a Papanicolaou smear and 9% attended a general medicine service. CONCLUSION: The sexual and reproductive health conditions of the youngsters studied were acceptable.

The objective is to compare the mortality rates due to covid-19, between the poorest districts with the least poor districts, following the idea that the first ones would have the highest rates. To carry out this research, the poorest districts and the less poor districts were considered, for Metropolitan Lima and Callao, which were classified by the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics of Peru in 2018. Secondary information from the databases of the Ministry of Health and the National System of Deaths was used. The aim of this study was to estimate the frequency of infection by Giardia sp in dogs under three years of age that go to public parks in the district of Santiago de Surco, Lima, Peru, and to determine the concordance among three diagnostic techniques. Stool samples were collected from 140 apparently healthy dogs under 3 years old that went to public parks accompanied by their owners. For the diagnosis of the samples, three techniques were used: Chromatography Immune-essay (CIE), Faust’s technique (FT) and Spontaneous Sedimentation Technique (SST). The methodological design for developing the thesis project was of the "action-research" type in which a mixed qualitative-quantitative approach was used, through surveys and interviews to workers of informal collection centers, recyclers, area residents and Ate municipality professional experts in solid waste management. Through the results, we propose a formalization model with methods that help to carry out adequate waste segregation in informal collection centers, incorporating a comprehensive management system in each of them.

The aim of the study was to describe the demographic indicators of the population of dogs and cats with owner in the district of Lince, Lima. The study was based on the use of surveys. The study population was the dwellings of five sectors of the Lince district. The study collected a total of 737 valid surveys, which came mainly from houses (60.5%) and apartments (37.3%). The results show that 46.0% of the houses had dogs and 16.4% had cats. The average number of animals per dwelling was 1.4 for dogs and 1.8 for cats. The human: dog ratio was 5.4, and the human: cat ratio was 12.3. The percentage of survival of their offspring was 84% in dogs and 81.8% in cats and estimated life expectancy was 11.5 and 5.8 years, for domestic dogs and cats, respectively. Five patients with the diUgnosis of Andean Cutaneous Leishmaniasis were seen in the District of Quinocay, between may 1999 and january 2000, after a lateney period of 8 years. All the patients were women, lesions were located on the face and lower limbs with 1-2 cm of size and the main symptom was itching without infection signs. Gender inequality constitutes a relevant problem for the improvement of the indicators of human development in society. To this end, we examined 241 mother-child dyads in an elementary school in the district of San Juan de Lurigancho, in the city of Lima. The sample was comprised of 119 boys and 122 girls, aged 7 to 9 years. Measurements were obtained through the Mother-Child Relationship Stimulation Scale (Panduro, 1998a) in a self-report. To identify the different components of child rearing, we applied factorial analyses. Results show that boys and girls have similar rearing conditions; however, in Socialization Mediation, boys obtain a higher value (p < .05).
