This research aims to compare some variables with students enrolled in a Higher Education Institution (IES) pursuing distance-virtual undergraduate programs. The sample included students from the Faculty of Distance Studies (FAEDIS) at the Universidad Militar Nueva Granada (UMNG). A parallel was drawn between the 2015-II and 2024-I periods, comparing economic, demographic, and institutional aspects. A descriptive methodology was used, using a survey instrument that corresponded to a sample of 15.2% of the enrolled student body. The above shows that a significant proportion of the students who responded were between 22 and 35 years old, indicating a young adult population. However, the 17-21 age group showed a significant increase. Likewise, a representative percentage is seen in the variable "Scholarship from a third party" (46.0%), which can be awarded with the current national govern...

The study sought to determine if differences exist psycholinguistic and communication among university students, given their different linguistic and sociocultural reality. 20 students of Greater National University of San Marcos (Castilian dialect of coastal riverine), 18 students of the National University San Agustin de Arequipa (Castilian southern Andes) and 28 students of the National University of Huancavelica (Quechua Castilian interlectal condition) was examined ). The brief bilingual Test (González 2006) and experimental psycholinguistic tests was used: auditory perception, lexical processes, semantic and pragmatic processes, both in understanding and oral production. The results showed differences in most dimensions of oral language: comprehension (speech perception, word recognition, syntactic and semantic domain) and production (object recognition, semantic fluency, syntacti...

Some public officials have expressed concern that policies mandating collective public health behaviors (e.g., national/regional “lockdown”) may result in behavioral fatigue that ultimately renders such policies ineffective. Boredom, specifically, has been singled out as one potential risk factor for noncompliance. We examined whether there was empirical evidence to support this concern during the COVID-19 pandemic in a large cross-national sample of 63,336 community respondents from 116 countries. Although boredom was higher in countries with more COVID-19 cases and in countries that instituted more stringent lockdowns, such boredom did not predict longitudinal within-person decreases in social distancing behavior (or vice versa; n = 8,031) in early spring and summer of 2020. Overall, we found little evidence that changes in boredom predict individual public health behaviors (handwa...

Rapid Maxillary Expansion (ERM) has been classically described in the literature as a therapeutic procedure in the treatment of transverse maxillary deficiency. The aim of this study was to evaluate the cephalometric skeletal changes on the cranial base in growing patients who had undergone rapid maxillary expansion. The material consisted of lateral radiographs taken from ten growing patients (eight male and two female) with need of rapid maxillary expansion as part of their orthodontic treatment. The age range of the patients was 7.1 to 12.7 years, and the mean age was 10.6 ± 2.04 years. Lateral radiographs of each patient were taken before treatment (T1) and immediately after the active phase of treatment (T2). The evaluated variables were: NSBa angle, NBa/F.H. angle, SN/ENA-ENP angle, F.H./ENA-ENP angle, SN/F.H. angle, S-N distance, S-Ba distance and N-Ba distance. The data were sta...

This article analyzes some of the changes that occurred in Mexican community distance-learning high schools during the COVID-19 pandemic, particularly regarding the conditions of actors within school systems, the new activities associated with distance-learning, and teacher-student relationships. From the perspective of interpretive sociology and through semi-structured interviews, the aim is to take the perspective of head teachers and teachers into account, to show their role in the transformation of the schools. It was found that, even though the pre-existing problems of head teachers and teachers were exacerbated, these actors played a leading role and carried out this teaching work with creativity and commitment

On December 31, 2019, the city of Wuhan, from the People's Republic of China, reported to the World Health Organization (WHO) around twenty-seven cases of pneumonia of unknown etiology, which was identified on January 7, 2020, as new coronavirus (nCOV) [1]. Subsequently, the WHO named it as COVID-19 (Coronavirus Disease 2019). Peru reported, on March 06, the first imported case of COVID-19 in a Peruvian man with travel history to Europe. Then, other cases were confirmed among his relatives [2]. Given the increase in the number of cases, on March 15, the Peruvian president declared a State of Emergency, compulsory social isolation, and international border closure. The mechanism of transmission of COVID-19 is through person-toperson contact. For this reason, it is important to evaluate the likelihood of the spread of the disease in Peru and the Lima province. Therefore, we aimed to estima...

The research explains why factors such as the level of family assets, infrastructure, education and distance to the capital district determine financial inclusion in the districts of Peru. Based on this objective, a descriptive analysis was performed on the relationship between the variables and the approximation on the inferential analysis: estimation using Ordinary Least Squares of a cross section with data up to December 2015.The results show a positive relationship between the factors, with the exception of distance, which could be explained by a concentration in the provision of financial services. Whereas, a large portion of the financial inclusion at the district level would be explained by other components.By identifying these other components, a broader multidimensional definition of financial inclusion was outlined, approaching the issue from a dynamic and evolutionary perspect...

Understanding the spatial distribution of prostate cancer and how it changes according to prostate specific antigen (PSA) values, Gleason score, and other clinical parameters may help comprehend the disease and increase the overall success rate of biopsies. This work aims to build 3D spatial distributions of prostate cancer and examine the extent and location of cancer as a function of independent clinical parameters. The border of the gland and cancerous regions from whole-mount histopathological images are used to reconstruct 3D models showing the localization of tumor. This process utilizes color segmentation and interpolation based on mathematical morphological distance. 58 glands are deformed into one prostate atlas using a combination of rigid, a ne, and b-spline deformable registration techniques. Spatial distribution is developed by counting the number of occurrences in a given p...
