Introduction: Critical illness myopathy (CIM) and polyneuropathy (CIP) are the most common cause of acquired weakness in intensive care units (ICU). However, its exact pathogenesis remains unclear. Abnormal excitability of muscle due to a sodium channelopathy is one of the mechanisms proposed. The aim of this study is to test for the presence of anti-ganglioside antibodies in serum from patients with CIM or both combined CIM/CIP, since there is evidence that they can cause reversible dysfunction of voltage-gated sodium channels.Methods: In a prospective way, we studied 35 patients admitted in ICU by weekly EMG. When positive spontaneous activity (PSA) was detected, a muscle biopsy was performed. Twenty patients met criteria of CIM; five of them also developed overlapping CIP. The aim of this study was to describe the growth curves of F1 Blackbelly x Pelibuey sheep from birth to weaning under free grazing conditions in the Ecuadorian Amazon. Twelve males and 10 females were used in the study. The animals were weighed at birth, at 4 and 9 days of age and then weekly until 55 days of age (weaning). Body development was linear. There were no significant differences in birth weight, weaning weight and daily weight gain between sexes.

El objetivo del trabajo fue describir las curvas de crecimiento del ovino F1 Blackbelly x Pelibuey desde el nacimiento hasta el destete, en condiciones de pastoreo libre en la Amazonía ecuatoriana. Se trabajó con 12 machos y 10 hembras desde el nacimiento hasta el destete. Los animales fueron pesados al nacimiento, a los 4 y 9 días de edad y luego semanalmente hasta los 55 días de edad (destete). El desarrollo corporal fue lineal. No existieron diferencias significativas de peso al nacimiento, peso al destete y ganancia diaria de peso entre sexos

The aim of this study was to monitor body weight and testicular development from weaning to one year of age, as well as to determine the relationship between body weight, scrotal circumference and sperm quality of Nubor crossbred goats. Body weight and scrotal circumference measurements were made from weaning (3 months) every 30 days until 12 months of age. After 12 months, the evaluation of sperm quality (ejaculate volume, sperm concentration and total sperm) began. The study aimed to characterize for genetic improvement purposes an ovine Hampshire flock located in the central coast of Peru. Genetic and phenotypic parameters were estimated for Birth Litter Size (TCN), Litter Weaning Weight (PCD), 2-Month Weaning Weight (PD), 5-Month Slaughter Weight (PB), and Body Weight Gain from Weaning to 5 Months Old (GPD5); and selection indices for lambs (I1 and I2) and ewes (I3) were developed using data collected between 2002 and 2004. The aim of this study was to determine the productive and reproductive parameters of the Saños and Mantaro guinea pig lines, developed at the Santa Ana Agrarian Experimental Station, in the central highlands of Peru. Records from the years 2017 to 2020 of 1773 and 1888 guinea pigs of the Saños and Mantaro lines, respectively, were analysed. The productive parameters evaluated were the weights at birth (PN), at weaning (PD) and at the fourth (P4), eighth (P8) and thirteenth week (P13). The reproductive parameters were litter size (TC) and calving interval (IP). The aim of this study was to estimate the variance components, heritability, and genetic and phenotypic correlations of the productive traits of the Saños and Mantaro guinea pig lines, developed at the Santa Ana Agrarian Experimental Station, Junín (Peru). The aim of the study was to evaluate the functional ontogeny of the digestive system of Pseudoplatystoma punctifer through the analysis of the activity of the main intestinal (alkaline phosphatase, aminopeptidase N, maltase and leucine-alanine peptidase), pancreatic (trypsin, chymotrypsin, total alkaline proteases, bile-salt activated lipase and amylase) and gastric (pepsin) enzymes. Larvae were raised in triplicate in a recirculation system from 4 to 27 days post fertilization (dpf) at an initial density of 90 larvae L −1 , 27.8 ± 0.7 °C and 0 L: 24D photoperiod. El presente estudio evaluó el efecto que produce la inclusión de butirato de sodio (BS) en la dieta sobre el desarrollo de vellosidades intestinales y criptas de Lieberkühn en cuyes de engorde. Se utilizaron 45 cuyes machos destetados a los 14 días de edad, distribuidos en un sistema completamente al azar de cinco tratamientos con nueve repeticiones cada uno. Los tratamientos fueron: (T1) Control; (T2) antibiótico; (T3) 100 ppm de BS; (T4) 200 ppm de BS y (T5) 300 ppm de BS. Se tomaron muestras de las tres secciones del intestino de cada animal a los 84 días de edad y fueron remitidas para la elaboración de láminas histológicas para las mediciones. Reglas y sostenibilidad de la política fiscal discute rigurosamente el carácter contraproducente de la política fiscal procíclica y desarrolla un modelo de sostenibilidad de la deuda para economías pequeñas y abiertas que tienen dos tipos de deuda pública: interna y externa. Asimismo, evalúa el desempeño del Programa de Creadores de Mercados de Deuda Pública Interna, el mismo que permitió reducir los riesgos de mercado de la deuda pública total al sustituir deuda externa por interna.
