Research on graphic organizers and reading comprehension has taken up new reins in the knowledge about the reader's mental processes, but it has been avoided to understand the levels in the reading process. The importance of organizers often focuses on the power they demonstrate to allow the reader to analyze and map ideas, especially concept maps and mind maps. In this study, we propose to determine the effects of graphic organizers on text comprehension at the school stage. The study is quantitative of quasi-experimental design. It was developed in 42 students from the primary level of Callao, Peru. The results allow concluding that the graphic organizers improved the comprehension of texts in general. The research focused on assessing the level of scientific evidence that exists about the use of cognitive strategies as a determinant in the reading comprehension activity in students of different educational levels: primary, secondary and higher. A systematic review of scientific articles and theses was carried out, without restriction of dates or types of study. We reviewed the full articles that included on the importance of cognitive strategies and reading comprehension. Ten articles were selected, most of these looking for the relationship exists. This article presents an advance of the investigation about the level of influence in cognitive factors focused in reading comprehension, particularly in the grammatical competition, the operative memory and the inferences. Educational action must take into account these strategies. Consequently, we present the objectives of this investigation, as well as the theoretical frame, which specifies the definition of each one of the variables. The problem of the investigation and the corresponding hypotheses are also developed. The condition of the situation allows us to affirm that inferential strategies are the most important; we indicate that this research is of an almost experimental character, which will be validated using the analyses instruments elaborated for it.

The second evaluarion is about a tesr applied in four experimemal programs designed by Mares et. al. based en rhe behavioral taxonomy developed by Ribes and Lopez (1985). Finally, rhe rhird condition corresponds ro rhe adaptarion of a reading and writing program for 40 children (Mares, Bazan and Farfan, 1995). In all cases, rhe effecriveness of rhe program was measured based en rhe mechanical and funcrional aspecrs of rhe wrirren language, and a comparison wirh other programs used by a differem group of reachers was established.

Through the identification and review of citations and allusions to works and authors of the Greco-Roman Classical Antiquity in the newspaper Mercurio Peruano (1791-1795), the article starts from an approach given by the history of reading and by Classical Reception Studies, to analyze the says of approaching and levels of reading that the literate society of Peru, at the end of the 18th century, could have developed to enter into contact and dialogue with classical culture. Purpose – The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of internal and external variables on the profitability of conventional banks operating on developing and underdeveloped countries, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) states. Design/methodology/approach – In this paper, the author uses ordinary least squares fixed-effects model on an unbalanced panel data set of all conventional banks operating in OIC countries (52 countries included from 57) over the period 1989-2008, 686 banks. Findings – The results suggest that equity, foreign ownership, off-balance sheet (OBS) activities, real gross domestic product growth, real interest rate and concentration foster banks’profitability. Las revisiones sistemáticas (RS) son estudios que buscan resumir la evidencia disponible sobre una pregunta de investigación, para lo cual pueden usar estrategias estadísticas conocidas como meta-análisis (MA). En la actualidad, las RS son fundamentales para tomar decisiones basadas en evidencias, por lo cual resulta de suma importancia que los profesionales de la salud sepan enfrentarse a este tipo de estudios. Por ello, el presente artículo tiene por objetivo familiarizar al lector con los aspectos básicos para realizar una correcta lectura de RS e interpretación de MA, para lo cual se utiliza un ejemplo hipotético de una condición ficticia llamada “Síndrome del glotón”. Asimismo, se aborda la interpretación de la certeza de la evidencia según la metodología Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development, and Evaluation (GRADE).

This article analyzes some of the positions held by the popes about the process of Hispanic American Independence. Noteworthy is the analysis of how transformations brought about by the transition from the XVIII to the XIX century, conditioned the pontiffs’ beliefs when faced with both the new liberal, republican and lay politics and the threat to traditional order in a period of acceleration of historical dynamics in the new Atlantic world. Among specific problems, this article covers the birth of patronage and the acknowledgment of the new Hispano-American republican states. Finally we use a new perspective as an attempt to explain why states throughout Hispanic America developed into confessional republics linked to the roman apostolic catholic church instead of creating their own national catholic churches.

Purpose: This study empirically investigates the relationship between goodwill assets and capital structure (i.e. debt ratio) of firms and the moderating effect of financial market development on the relationship between goodwill assets and capital structure. School entry cutoff policies establish the minimum age required to start school at a given date, determining whether a child is in a classroom with younger or older peers, which can affect their development. Existing research, particularly from high-income countries, shows that younger students face disadvantages in several areas, but little is known about the effects in low- and middle-income countries and for preschool children. We leverage the discontinuity created by government-imposed school entry cutoffs to measure the impact of late enrollment on child nutrition and early childhood development outcomes. Purpose. The purpose of this paper is to analyse the role that different financial sources and financial specialization have on private research and development (R&D) activity in OECD countries. Design/methodology/approach. The authors developed several panel regressions choosing as a final model a two-way random effects regression to understand which funding sources are related to the R&D expenditure, and how financial specialization has links to the private portion of R&D aggregated expenditure. The authors include data from the years 2000 to 2016 for OECD countries. Findings.
