This research will serve as a precedent for other studies that aim to improve the production processes of textile and apparel companies by proposing a preventive solution for excess fabric waste that results from the production process. The study will also provide insights into reducing the amount of excess fabric waste in the marking and cutting areas via the manufacture of additional clothing items and accessories. Consequently, by efficiently allocating resources to make optimal use of seasonal material, costs can be reduced, ultimately leading to improved profitability for the textile knitwear company.

Commonly the searching and identification of new particles, requires to reach highest efficiencies and purities as well. It demands to apply a chain of cuts that reject the background substantially. In most cases the processes to extract signal from the background is carried out by hand with some assistance of well designed and intelligent codes that save time and resources in high energy physics experiments. In this paper we present one application of the Mitchell’s criteria to extract efficiently beyond Standard Model signal events yielding an error of order of 1.22%. The usage of Machine Learning schemes appears to be advantageous when large volumes of data need to be scrutinized.

The company under study aimed to reduce the scrap rates of each process of flexible packaging manufacturing, originated as a result of poor procedures, returned products, and observed spools and/or bales. A reduction in claims was also expected as a result of the improvement in the quality of the finished product. The reduction of scrap in each process of the plastics división led to a reduction in reprocessing and costs. This, in turn, had a positive impact on the company’s income as the provision of high quality products resulted in customer loyalty. Furthermore, processes in the areas of extrusion, printing, cutting, laminating and sealing were made more efficient. The standardization of procedures and processes improved their execution time, creating a more positive image for customers and competitors.

Nowadays, ergonomics has been implementing new methodologies to be applied in different areas and stations, whether in a work, productive or common area. It is in this context that ergonomics has a great impact within the different organizations to maintain the maximum possible productivity. That is why the main objective of this research work is to carry out an ergonomic analysis, using RULA and REBA techniques, throughout the process and to identify possible ergonomic problems in a bakery business. To carry out this analysis, we first conducted a systematic literature review to enter into the context of how ergonomics applied in organizations has evolved. With the context clear, we applied the two techniques with the support of the Ergonautas website, which can provide us with warnings of the ergonomic level of the activities and take immediate actions. With this analysis, we will be a...

This study aims to improve the fabric-cutting process of cotton garment-exporting micro and small businesses by identifying and eliminating waste, defined as the processes that do not add value in cutting area of a textile company. In addition, the lean manufacturing approach is applied by employing tools such as value stream mapping (VSM), single-minute exchange of dies (SMED), and work standardisation. The proposed philosophy is based on data analysis, economic validation, and simulation using the historical data from the company under study. Consequently, a decline in default rework and delayed processes along with an increase in the productivity index is expected.
