Bullying is a contemporary social phenomenon that impacts multiple social structures and contexts. This study aimed to establish the association between executive functions (EF) and social cognition in adolescents. A cross-sectional descriptive study with a sample of 109 subjects was selected by convenience sampling. Multinomial logistic regression was performed, finding that social cognition is a protective factor (OR: 0.17 IC 95% 0.05-0.59) (OR: 0.27 IC 95% 0.08- 0.85) in the group of aggressors to controls; in addition, the group of victims to controls (OR: 0.15 IC 95% 0.05 – 0.42) (OR: 0.30 IC 95% (0.11- 0.82). Thus, adequate social cognition is associated as a protective factor against bullying, and presenting deficits in EF is associated with a threefold increased risk of bullying.

Objective: To ascertain that social and emotional deprivation of the mother is associated with fetal growth restriction, fetal death, preterm birth and congenital defects. Materials and Methods: We retrieved the maternal and perinatal outcome from the Informatic Perinatal System of all pregnancies with antenatal care whose delivery occurred between January 1, 1992 and December 31, 2001. Three groups of patients with social and emotional deprivation were included: 1) single women (n=1285), 2) teenage women with absent prenatal care (APC), (n=2131), and 3) primigravid with stature lower than 160 cm (n=35722). Maternal and perinatal outcome were compared with: 1) women living with sexual partner (n=5550), 2) teenage women with prenatal care (n=7644), and 3) primigravids taller than 159 cm (n=5264). Odds ratio and 95% confidence interval (CI) were calculated. Results: Single women presented ...

Objective: to estimate the prevalence of functional dependence and to assess its association with type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM) in elderly subjects registered in Peruvian Social Security (EsSalud) in 2015. Materials and methods: this is a secondary analysis of the National Socioeconomic Healthcare Access Survey performed in EsSalud members in 2915 (ENSSA-2015), a survey performed in households using two-stage probabilistic sampling that was representative at a national level of population registered in EsSalud. Functional dependence was assessed using the Katz index (≥ 1 point). DM was determined by participants’ self- report. Adjusted prevalence rates (aPR) were estimated according to potential confounding factors using multiple log-Poisson regression alongside their 95% confidence intervals (CI) and p-values. All analyses took into account the complex sampling used in ENSSA-2015. R...

Constitutional doctrine has little addressed on the General Comptroller of the Republic and its controlling function of public resources execution and management. Efforts have been made to explain this situation in other realities, regarding high budgetary, accounting and auditing content needed to carry out auditing activities constitutionally assigned to this kind of entities. Nevertheless, identifying competences of the General Comptroller of the Republic and its nature of autonomous constitutional body shapes an important expression of Constitutional State and the principle of powers division. This entity controls State’s Public Budget execution contributing to constitutional property protection, legality of budget implementation and the appropriate management of public resources, also the «efficiency» of social needs, proper functioning of public administration and prevention of...

The article attempts to provide an in-depth study of the concept of profesional deontology with the aim of updating it and allowing it to break free from a crisis of ethics and sense of justice that seems overwhelming. At present, a number of perspectives have been disseminated that strip the work of professionals (the work of legal professionals and particularly of judges as well) from any reference to a common good, reducing it, according to each case, to a simple relationship between persons (more or less economically relevant), whereby everything is subject to negotiation or to the manifestation of a public power that controls and regulates all things, paradoxically ending up by removing the professional liability. The very concept of profesional work must be studied in depth, particularly with respect to the idea and specific function of the professions involved in the administratio...

An infant stimulation in mother-child relationship assessment scale (ISA Scale) was developed, based on a classification of probable effects on child's behavior, such as behavioral promotion stimulation (BPS) and behavioral control stimulation (BCS), refering to mother action level to promote desirable behaviors and to control socially non desirable behaviors in child's behavior repertory. 540 mother-child dyads were evaluated. The construct validity tests showed significant correlations in item analysis, between subescales along with child development measures (social maturity and aggressiveness). In addition significant correlations (p<.05) were identified in validity tests showing criteria. On the other hand, the reliability tests indicated high stability and internal consistency. During this work we verified the important influence this stimulation had on the psychological develop...

Intelligence is a construct of notable impact in our sociocultural context, related to a wide range of conceptual and operational definitions which originate positions that highlights cognitive and abstract elements and emotional and social skills, as well was perspectives that are focused on processes underlying the intelligent performance, such as in the case of executive functions (EFs), which are configured as cognitive processes that make it possible the self-regulation (Miyake & Friedman, 2012). Similarly, there are approaches that give intelligence a relevant and predictive role of school performance, an aspect strengthened by the psychometric perspective, where the concept of intelligence has been closely linked to learning. In this line, we also find the classical perspective of crystallized Intelligence of Cattell (1943), which refers to the knowledge acquired through educa...

The relationship between executive functions (EF), creative personality, and academic performance in Argentine university students was examined. A total of 248 students (M = 22.97 years, SD = 4.43) from various Argentine provinces participated. The Adult Executive Functioning Inventory (ADEXI), the Cognitive Flexibility Scale, the Creative Behavior Scale (ECC), and the Creative Personality Scale (EPC) were used, along with academic performance data and sociodemographic information. Data were collected online through Google Forms and analyzed using Spearman correlations and mediation analysis with robust Maximum Likelihood estimator and Bootstrap. Cognitive flexibility exhibited the most robust correlation with grade point average (r = .281, p < .001), followed by working memory difficulties (r = -.234, p < .001). Creative personality correlated positively with grade point average (...

The Covid-19 pandemic is generating a great psychological impact on university students and the general population, with the family being an important social support element. The objective of this study was to characterize the psychological impact of social isolation in students of a Public University in Lima. The study employed anon-probabilistic sample of 3,960 students, between 16 and 40 years old, where 40.2%were men and 59.8% women. The Scales of Positive and Negative Emotions (PANAS) and Family Functionality-APGAR were applied. The results indicate that the psychological impact was reflected through positive emotions (alert, interested and attentive) and negative emotions (scared, upset and uneasy). It was also found that the family functioning in the context of confinement reflected that the evaluated shared the problems of the house, as well as spending time in the family. Finall...

In Mexico, a high percentage of young people experience symptoms of generalized anxiety, which are associated with difficulties in executive functions (EF). However, previous studies have shown inconsistent results, as they often rely solely on either objective or subjective measures. Therefore, this study focused on analyzing the relationship between generalized anxiety and EF using both a neuropsychological battery and a self-report questionnaire, in order to provide a more comprehensive understanding of cognitive functioning in adolescents. A quantitative, non-experimental, cross-sectional, correlational, and explanatory design was employed. The sample consisted of 96 adolescents between 12 and 15 years old from the state of Puebla, Mexico. A total of 10.41% of participants presented severe symptoms of generalized anxiety. A significant relationship was found between anxiety and one o...

A diversity of mythical and magical beings shape the Andean imaginary, groups of them are qualifed as negative due to the hostile action they manifest in their relationship with the inhabitants. In this article, the general features of these beings are exposed as result of the morphological transformation that affects their original nature, which also implies changes in their habitual behavior and in the function;they perform as members of pacha. Likewise, the fgure of the jupaymula —character that syncretizes Andean and Hispanic mythical-religious conceptions— is emphasized, determining its characteristics, its procedure before, during and after the metamorphosis, from which it is concluded that its conversion is a sanction for infringing the moral principles of his community linked with incest. Tis corroborates that adverse beings, in most cases, were constituted as instruments us...
