This study aimed to analyze the effect of problem-based learning on metacognitive abilities in the conjecturing process of junior high school students. To reach this purpose, a mixed-methods design, which is a combination of quantitative and qualitative methods, was used. +e quantitative method was used to analyze the metacognitive abilities of the students’ conjecturing process, while the qualitative method was used to explore observation and interview data. +e subjects of this study consisted of 60 eighthgrade students. Two learning models were compared, namely the problem-based learning model and the conventional learning model. +e metacognitive abilities of students’ conjecturing process were measured by a pattern generalization problem-solving test. After collecting the data and analyzing them through the independent-samples t-test, it was revealed that the PBL had a significant...

This work proposes a semi-automated analysis and modeling package for Machine Learning related problems. The library goal is to reduce the steps involved in a traditional data science roadmap. To do so, Sparkmach takes advantage of Machine Learning techniques to build base models for both classification and regression problems. These models include exploratory data analysis, data preprocessing, feature engineering and modeling. The project has its basis in Pymach, a similar library that faces those steps for small and medium-sized datasets (about ten millions of rows and a few columns). Sparkmach central labor is to scale Pymach to overcome big datasets by using Apache Spark distributed computing, a distributed engine for large-scale data processing, that tackle several data science related problems in a cluster environment. Despite the software nature, Sparkmach can be of use for local ...

In the field of education and technology companies, online judges play an important role in the development of programming skills because on these platforms students must solve challenges using specific programming languages. However, the sheer number of coding challenges available can be overwhelming for students, leading to frustration and loss of interest. To resolve this situation, recommender systems can be an effective solution. However, programming judges have not delved far enough into this area. Therefore, this research focused on evaluating six artificial intelligence techniques through a cloud-based architecture for the prediction of the level of difficulty from the statements of the problems to be coupled to a recommendation system. To validate the experiments, a real CodeChef programming judge was used and the experiments were evaluated through statistical tests. The results...

Denoising diffusion probabilistic models (DDPMs) have demonstrated significant potential in addressing complex image processing challenges. This paper explores the application of DDPMs in three different areas: reconstruction of remote sensing imagery affected by cloud cover, reconstruction of facial images with occluded areas, and segmentation of bodies of water from remote sensing imagery. Inpainting involves filling in missing regions in images, while DDPMs act as data generators capable of synthesizing information that alings coherently with the context of the original data. Inspired by the inpainting technique, the RePaint approach was adapted and applied to reconstruction tasks. The WaterSegDiff approach, which uses a diffusion model as a backbone, was employed for the segmentation task. To illustrate the model’s behavior and provide examples of the tasks, experiments were carrie...

The objective of the research work was to propose a teaching method that allowed the self-management of knowledge related to the zoology of invertebrates by the students of the 3rd year of the Bachelor of Education career, comparing in-person learning vs. those not in attendance. For the development of the research, information gathering and processing methods were used, which allowed us to verify the shortcomings in terms of the use and elaboration of this type of teaching medium, for the teaching-learning process from the non-face-to-face modality. The illustrations were made to correspond with the pedagogical and hygienic requirements, which contributed to the aesthetic education of the students and raised the interest in the didactic material. Suggestions and arguments made by different experts were taken into consideration, which were largely the basis for the realization of the wor...

We show the results of the teaching-learning experience of the Math 'Level 0' course given to the freshers at UPC who do not pass the Math 'Level Exam'. The work was based on the feedback of the learning process and it was done at the same time that the university 'methodology of competencies' was being applied. The difference was based on the feedback given on each class based on evaluations that measured their cognitive and 'procedural knowledge'(part calculus and modelling of everyday situations). The comparison with the results obtained at the end of the week in general evaluations (common for each class) were positive, which encouraged us to keep up this learning process by common agreement. At the end of the course when comparisons between each class were made we saw that 70% passed the course due to applying this methodology. The in...

This research is based on a framework of educational innovation by making use of Facebook as a pedagogical tool in teaching of Logical thinking course with the aim of moving the teaching practice in new learning environments, increase the interest, high motivation students and results in the assessment of learning. The sample was 80 students ( considered as users) of A and B sections of the Professional School of Accounting during the academic semester 2015- 11. In the frrst instance starts the development of the subject using standard strategies during the first unit; then, in units 2 and 3, use the social network Facebook asan educational tool. Through this space could create among members, open communication channels, sharing information in a dynamic and effective way to strengthen practices related to learning; class guides whose presentations were associated with the use of web 2.0 ...

The teaching-learning process in higher education should guide, orient and train students towards the acquisition of computer skills, in a society increasingly permeated by Information and Communication Technologies. The objective of the research is to propose a system of Virtual Practical Classes, for the study of the external and internal morphology of vertebrates that are studied as part of the Chordates Zoology program, in the Bachelor's Degree in Education. Biology, in the third year of the Regular Day Course, at the Central University "Marta Abreu" of Las Villas, Villa Clara, Cuba. The system is based on the Historical-Cultural Theory of L. S. Vigotsky and his followers. The information for the diagnosis is obtained from the application of different methods of information gathering and processing, such as surveys, interviews, observation and document review. In order to mitigate th...

Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Peru present problems such as access to the national market due to limited capital or access to technology compared to large companies. However, they also lack an adequate definition and conceptualization of their processes, as well as a low level of business information transfer, which causes an absence in the measurement, control of processes and low operational performance. Given this situation, we propose the application and implementation of knowledge management tools in a company dedicated to the marketing and distribution of school supplies, which represents an SME in Peru. The tools used as the map of processes and flowcharts of the different processes were used to make the participants of the processes known. Through the realization of training, performance evaluations and internal audit, the learning of the operator is analyzed. As a...

Technology plays a significant role in education nowadays. People is aware of its importance and there are numerous researches regarding its benefits when applied to the teaching – learning process. Nevertheless, since social networks are a relatively young developed technology, few researches have been carried out around the world about it, and virtually none in Peru. This research was developed with the sole purpose of analyzing the impact that the application of an instructional design based on social learning theory and TPACK framework has on promoting the use of social network sites to improve English language learning of students coursing Beginners IV at Señor de Sipan Language Center (SSLC) during October 2015. To test the hypothesis the quasi experimental design was applied. A Pre - test was given, to diagnose the problem. Results shown that students had a low level of English...

Machine learning is a branch of artificial intelligence that uses scientific computing, mathematics and statistics through automated techniques to solve problems based on classification, regression and clustering. Social demand refers to the need for service and product of the professional training process, expressed by interest groups, aimed at contributing to national development, as established by the quality assurance policy of university higher education and national licensing and accreditation models. In this context, this paper conducts research based on job positions of IT professionals posted n web portals, designs a machine learning process with an unsupervised approach, extracts occupational profiles, designs a multidimensional model, applies k-means clustering when determining clusters of job positions by similarity, and reports the results obtained.
