This report presents the case of an 18-year-old Colombian creole mare with a history of subfertility, continuous and prolonged oestrous, uterine oedema categorized between 4 and 5, and moderate sized cysts present in the endometrial and myometrial layer. As a diagnostic plan, an endometrial culture, hysteroscopy, and a biopsy for histopathology were performed. Proteus mirabilis was found in the bacteriology culture. Hysteroscopy showed abundant cysts on the body and uterine horns. In histopathology, hyperplasia of the endometrial glands with fibrotic foci and mononuclear infiltrate was evident. Therapy with antibiotics, dimethyl sulfoxide DMSO and infusion of platelet-rich plasma did not improve her condition and the mare did not recover her reproductive function.

This article will study the poetry collection Antígona (2000) by the Peruvian poet José Watanabe. This free version of Sophocles’ eponymous tragedy will be analyzed using the concepts of General Textual Rhetoric proposed by Giovanni Bottiroli (1993) and supplemented by Camilo Fernández (2011). The key concept for its application will be the rhetoric of the characters, specifically focusing on the two female characters of the tragedy: Ismene, the narrator, and Antigone. The main aim of this article is to demonstrate the predominant presence of the figure of thought known as antithesis in the poetry collection, and likewise, the way in which it becomes fundamental in the construction of the represented world and, consequently, of the selected characters.

This study analyzes the sound discourse in the podcast “La Oruga” as a strategy to construct and transmit the collective memory of the internal armed conflict in Peru (1980-2000). Using a qualitative approach, five representative episodes of the podcast were purposively sampled and analyzed by means of a content analysis form adapted to the sound format and the context of collective memory. The results reveal that the sound symbolism, the recreation of the testimonies and their centralization are, among others, powerful elements in the construction of a multidimensional narrative of the conflict that manages to give voice to historically marginalized perspectives, thus contributing to a more inclusive, deep and complex collective memory of the Peruvian internal armed conflict. It is concluded that sound discourse, through the podcast format, is currently a strategy under construction...

The essay proposes an approach to the audiovisual practices of the popular communication group Tomate Colectivo. Based on the experience of the audiovisual series Trazando resistencias (tomatecolectivo, 2014a, 2014b, 2014c, 2014d, 2014e, 2014f, 2014g y 2014h), it invites us to question visuality as a field in tension that involves the production, distribution and cultural meanings of images in audiovisual practices in contexts of ecoterritorial struggles. In this way, an attempt is made to investigate the relevance of the collective’s digital audiovisual archives as a potential space for research and construction of narratives, which not only document social and cultural processes, but also construct countervisualities from the ecoterritorial struggles in Cajamarca, Peru.

This article presents the methodology and main results of a research/action project called “Fishermen’s Memories”, conducted by the two authors in the coastal town of Lobitos (Northern Peru). The project aims to reconstruct the history of Lobitos basing itself on the voices of members of the local fishing community, in order to highlight their own narratives and vision of the past and enable them to transmit these to the younger generations. After presenting the goals, methodology and context of the project, we reflect upon some of the main results of our research and try to explore the defining elements of this community’s identity and the way it perceives and analyzes its history. Finally, we describe the work that was carried out with the participants and present the main products of the project as well as its future prospects.

It continues a theoretical reflection started with her master degree thesis about visuality as a feature of contemporary culture. It tries to explain what is meant by visual culture from the analysis of the social field of “seeing”. First, it presents the concept to, then, develop three analysis perspectives: the “seeing” that builds meaning, the “seeing” that sees the Other, and the “seeing” with which the subject sees himself. Visual culture organizes the daily action of the subject and creates meaning. The visual has been gaining space in the daily life of people. It has move from a marginal place, reserved for rituals and special performances, to fulfill a key role today that relates to identity and the way people learns. Everyday life has taken a visual twist that makes the “seeing” and life itself, practices qualitatively different to how they used to be before.
