For more than three decades, teaching work assessment based on the student’s perception has been used. This is considered one of the most classical and most used models within institutions. This paper seeks to identify the concept of a good college professor according to the psychological features valued by students. To this end, a longitudinal, quantitative study was conducted on a sample of more than 6000 students, in a repeated manner, over a 10-year time period. The tool used for gathering data was a questionnaire composed of an adjective scale with a Likert-type option. It underwent a pilot study and was evaluated by experts as validation procedures. The results obtained identify the psychological traits proposed by students to define a good professor. These are related to basic personal traits, personal values, as well as to sociability and participation, psycho-sociological aspe...

In the present study, the manifestations of burnout syndrome in school and university professors living in the city of Arequipa were analyzed comparatively. A total of 413 intentionally selected professors were evaluated, and the Maslach Burnout Inventory was applied. It yielded adequate levels of reliability for our sample and three factors obtained through confirmatory factorial analysis, confirming the theory of Maslach and Jackson (1981). It was found that there are significant differences in terms of sex, marital status and teaching level of teachers, resulting in higher levels of exhaustion for female teachers at school level and moderate levels of depersonalization for university teachers, in whom negative correlations were obtained regarding the number of children and the burnout syndrome.

The research carried out on how gender stereotypes are reproduced in the EBR teacher-student relationship has as its object of study the oral discourse of male and female teachers, which does not explain how gender stereotypes continue to be reproduced in schools despite of the care that teachers, aware of this problem, give to their hierarchical relationship with students. The objective of this article is to argue that if we consider the teacher-student relationship as a habitus, then the reproduction of gender stereotypes in schools is evident not only in the oral discourse of teachers, but also in diverse discursive expressions.

This research explores the relationship between families with a son having Down syndrome (DS) and the school (F-S) from the point of view of the families and public school teachers in a city of Minas Gerais, Brazil. Two instruments were used: semi-structured interviews and a Checklist to characterize the daily shared routine and the relationship between F-S. For parents, the F-S link is evidenced in the parents-students relationship, while for teachers the F-S link is evidence in the parents-teachers relationship. In the interviews, parents indicate that the F-S relationship is fundamental to foster the development of skills for their children. Meanwhile, teachers consider the F-S relationship significant because it favors the schooling process for children with DS or intellectual disabilities, also adding challenges to establish schools with an inclusive approach.

This paper is divided into two parts: the first contains a series of discussions presented in the binational seminar for Critical Elections and Social Movements, which took place virtually with professors of the University of Santiago, the Catholic University of Lima and the Catholic University of Valparaiso in July, 2021, organized in collaboration with Professor Carlota Casalino. The second part of the paper addresses the further development of those events, taking place up to the third anniversary of the “social uprising” in Chile, in a radically different political context to the one of October, 2019, which seems to be the closure of a cycle (the constitutional issue yet to be resolved). The paper does not contains a thesis, rather it is a mosaic – certainly incomplete – that connects text revisions and interpretations to personal observations and explaining proposals. It aim...

In order to understand how «gendered» male and female teachers think, we will study the general concepts of representation by analyzing the production and processing of these concepts, because representations outspread by society carry prejudice and categorizations that are, somehow, embodied by teachers. Therefore, we need to know how representations can be absorbed, denied or shared. Accordingly, we have performed a literature review on publications about representations based on many approaches, which were divided into two blocks of analysis: conceptualization of social representations and complex representations. The analysis showed that based on common sense a common way, but these factors bring along peculiar practices of each individual or teacher that are loaded with their ways of thinking.
