Authoring in adaptive educational hypermedia environment is complex activity. In order to promote a wider application of this technology, the teachers and course designers need specific methods and tools for supporting their work. In that sense, data mining is a promising technology. In fact, data mining techniques have already been used in E-learning systems, but most of the times their application is oriented to provide better support to students; little work has been done for assisting adaptive hypermedia authors through data mining. In this paper we present a proposal for using data mining for improving an adaptive hypermedia system. A tool implementing the proposed approach is also presented, along with examples of how data mining technology can assist teachers

Carbonaceous rocks in Peru have been little studied because of the mineralogical variability, their poorly understood sedimentation processes and the complexity of their rock attributes (porosity, permeability). The objective of the present research is to obtain an integrated log type that serves as a standard for the elaboration of geological sections and maps, in order to establish a predictive model, in an areal distribution of potential reservoirs within calcareous units. Tarma and Copacabana groups mainly composed of carbonaceous facies, with a lower proportion of silicoclastics and evaporites, all have thicknesses ranging from 800 to 1000 meters. The present study aimed the adaptation of the Driving Log, a questionnaire that assesses aggressive and risky driving behaviors in a day by day basis, with 395 Spanish participants. Confirmatory factor analysis showed that the questionnaire fitted properly in two correlated factors, labeled as Risky Driving and Aggressive Driving. Subsequent analyses showed that the number of drives is significantly associated to Risky Driving, while the number of occasions in which anger is experimented correlated with Risky Driving as well as Aggressive Driving. Other findings suggest that men behave in a more risky and aggressive mannerthan women. Young people follow this same tendency in comparison to their elders.

The attenuation coefficient slope (ACS) has the potential to be used for tissue characterization and as a diagnostic ultrasound tool, hence complementing B-mode images. The ACS can be valuable for estimation of other ultrasound parameters such as the backscatter coefficient. There is a well-known tradeoff between the precision of the estimated ACS values and the data block size used in spectral-based techniques such as the spectral log difference (SLD). This trade-off limits the practical usefulness of spectral-based attenuation imaging techniques. In this thesis work, the regularized spectral log difference (RSLD) technique is presented in detail and evaluated with simulations and experiments with physical phantoms, ex vivo and in vivo. El presente estudio tuvo como objetivo la adaptación del Driving Log, un cuestionario que valora los comportamientos agresivos y arriesgados al volante, en una muestra española de 395 personas. El análisis factorial confirmatorio mostró que el cuestionario ajustaba satis-factoriamente en dos factores, etiquetados como Conducción Arriesgada y Conducción Agresiva. Los análisis posteriores mostraron que el número de trayectos realizados se asoció significativamente a la Conducción Arriesgada, mientras que el número de veces en que se experimentó ira lo hizo tanto con la Conducción Arriesgada como con la Conducción Agre-siva. Igualmente, se vio que los hombres se comportaban de forma más arriesgada y agresiva que las mujeres, y que los jóvenes lo hacían en mayor grado que los mayores.

To illuminate low-light scenarios in photography, photographers usually use the camera flash, this produces flash images. Nevertheless, this external light may produce non-uniform illumination and unnatural color of objects, especially in low-light conditions. On the other hand, in an ambient image, an image captured with the available light in the ambient, the illumination is evenly distributed. We therefore consider ambient images as the enhanced version of flash images. Thus, with a fully convolutional network, and a flash image as input, we first estimate the ratio-log image. Then, our model produces the ambient image by using the estimated ratio-log image and ash image. Hence, high-quality information is recovered with the flash image. The climatic origin of astronomically induced sedimentary cycles in the Mediterranean and adjacent areas during the late Neogene and Quaternary remains puzzling; as cycles have been linked to concomitant but seasonally opposite changes in African summer monsoon precipitation (Eastern Mediterranean sapropels) and Atlantic regulated winter-precipitation (carbonate cycles on the Atlantic side of the Mediterranean). Particularly, little is known about the cyclic sedimentation on orbital time scales in the Western Mediterranean, with the prime exception of the Messinian sapropels from the Sorbas basin (southern Spain). This article aims to reflect on the production of knowledge based on the epistemology of black feminist thought, proposed by Patricia Hill Collins, which is configured as a critical theory produced by black women in their struggles against three articulated dimensions of oppression: economic, political and ideological. En este artículo se presentan dos métodos para el análisis de datos categorizados: la regresión logística, la cual nos permite estudiar una variable respuesta cualitativa con respecto a variables explicativas cualitativas o cuantitativas; y los modelos log lineal los cuales nos permiten analizar posibles relaciones entre las variables. Estos métodos son aplicados en el estudio del riesgo nutricional, obteniéndose qqe variables determinan un riesgo nutricional.

Besides changing the public's means of participation in the new media environment and generating a revolution of Internet, blogs can help future journalists acquire some habits that would enrich rheir work. If we consider that journalism is strongly conditioned by time, with multiplied edition periods and reduced publications more and more, a journalist has the need of acquiring habits which allow him to respond quickly these new demands, with a better produce, not only because of its quality but also for the level of negation exercise. The main objective of this work is to know which those behaviors are and how blogs help to strengthen them.
