The purpose of this article is to register the pregnancy and birth of IDL-Reporters, the first initiative of nonprofit investigative journalism born in Peru. As business idea, IDL-Reporters share same foundational strengths and weaknesses as its european and U.S. peers, although with more difficulty for finding financial sources and make an impact on traditional media, due to political and commercial context.

Investigative Journalism has not been done inside media companies anymore. They do not provide conditions necessary to sustain this activity for monitoring and control of policy power in a society. Both radio, like television, such as print, have been cornered by fall of advertising investment, incessant rise of price of paper as raw material, and displaced by arrival of telephone operators as new owners of communication news channel. Managers of traditional media have been forced to make budget cuts. However, nonprofit organizations has initiated recovery of investigative journalism. The aim of this work is to make a compilation of six major U.S. efforts by providing resources to investigative journalism. I try to describes their ways to get money, but also identifies its risks.

El Defensor de la Audiencia sigue siendo una figura en construcción a nivel mundial, a pesar de que la reciente incorporación de la figura del ombudsman al Nexo York Times, a fines de 2003, significó un espaldarazo internacional para su existencia y eficacia, como reparador de los errores que cometen los medios de comunicación.

Azotados por una ola de corrupción que resulta ingobernable e inmortal en algunos casos, los países latinoamericanos seguimos sin encontrar un norte en medio de tanta impunidad y desprestigio. La apertura al libre mercado ha reducido el poder político y ampliado el poder económico, fortaleciendo un poder de facto, que ostentan muchas empresas, por el mero hecho de encontrarse en situaciones de monopolio o en realidades locales que desconocen sus movimientos internacionales.

Besides changing the public's means of participation in the new media environment and generating a revolution of Internet, blogs can help future journalists acquire some habits that would enrich rheir work. If we consider that journalism is strongly conditioned by time, with multiplied edition periods and reduced publications more and more, a journalist has the need of acquiring habits which allow him to respond quickly these new demands, with a better produce, not only because of its quality but also for the level of negation exercise. The main objective of this work is to know which those behaviors are and how blogs help to strengthen them.

Nowadays coverage on peruvian mining information in mass media is news breaking. In the last twenty years, coinciding with the Peruvian government policy to yield increasingly lands for the mining exploitation, the topic has been taken to the extreme. This polarity between whom are to favour and in opposition to the mining exploitation offers one of the most crucial challenges for our mass media. Especially for the local media, who have no diversified neither the economic security nor the social support. This research is an analysis of content of three principal regional diaries to discover if their media coverage on the mining problem has developed in an impartial way. For it, a significant event has been chosen in the region: the march of the ronderos and peasants against the miner Majaz, developed in July, 2005.
