description El objetivo de la investigación fue determinar la relación entre la distribución espacial de la temperatura de la superficie terrestre (LST) y el índice normalizado de vegetación (NDVI) en el distrito de Cajamarca para el periodo 2016-2019, partiendo de la hipótesis de que la temperatura superficial terrestre puede ser correlacionada con la presencia de vegetación en el distrito de Cajamarca. Por ello mediante el procesamiento de 8 imágenes Landsat 8 del área de estudio obtenidas del Servicio Geológico de EE. UU desde el 01/01/2016 al 31/12/2019 en el software ArcGis, se calculó el LST y NDVI en 8 muestras de pasto, bosque y cultivo agrícola del distrito de Cajamarca, y se realizó el test de hipótesis para correlación entre las variables LST y NDVI por fechas y tipo de cultivo en el área de estudio. Se encontró que con riesgo máximo de equivocarnos de 0.05, la correlación entre el LST y NDVI en el distrito de Cajamarca fue negativa de moderada a fuerte y esta fue hallada predominantemente en muestras agrícolas y de bosque en la estación seca, por el contrario en muestras de pasto no predominaron correlaciones lineales en ninguna estación.
